People would have paid for WoW's beta.

People paid for SWG's beta. What is your point?

Oh so much hate. Furor himself in 2003 on this site said that.

The point is that there is too much "wait and see" when it comes to V:SoH.

No. Performance reasons. Maybe it will be fun to play in 2 years. I've gotten too used to being able to do things like play WoW during my commute.
And that IS one of the things WoW has going for it. Want to play on a laptop with integrated video? NP chief.

Ya, quite a selling point of WoW, two year old graphics that weren't even top of the line 2 years ago.

I give WoW props towards one of the most well put together game engines I've ever seen.

Why do MMO threads always gravitate back towards that monstrosity of a game? Lord knows it has a godly # of subscriptions, but it is far from what a standard MMO should be IMHO.

There's people who say they'd pay for beta in this game... don't know what's such a big deal about that.

Well I hope you "Defenders of Vanguard" enjoy playing the game after release. Everyone will have a chance to find out first hand how bad the game is in a few months so it is probably pointless to even talk about the game now.

Vanguard is going to be a game for you if you like to own your own little house that you can decorate, own a horse / mount and explore a huge, empty world with some occasionaly pretty scenery. Its probably going to be the perfect game for the "family" crowd who enjoys roleplay and cybering their "partner" beside a fireplace. I mean they even have animal races for the furries.

Uh braniac, he's talking about the engine (aka program/code), not the MMO concept/mechanics

Sorry I was unclear. I was refering to an old WoW post asking if people would buy it during beta. Lots of different answers:

You do realize this pretty much describe every recent mmo, including WoW, except for the houses part.

You are foolish if you dont think there is a demand for houses in WoW. Do you realize how many people would be flipping ecstatic if they could have guild halls where they could display things like a permanent Ony head, or Nef head, or even Kel-Thuzad's head on a pike?

Well that is a matter of opinion I suppose. Numbers do tell what is preferred and what isn't, and afterall it IS a business.
