Don't agree at all. Lots of people (including me) had no interest in MMO PvP until WoW. Whether it's because WoW's PvP is so great or EQ's was so horrible is up for debate, though. Even a lot of MMO first timers I know were not interested in PvP at first but love it now.

Its because WoW's pvp is so carebear. Thats why people who initially hated it don't mind now. There is no risk vs reward, its straight reward. Unfortunately a lot of people are realizing that pvping in WoW is inane after you realize there is nothing to lose.

Most of the pvpers I know from other games quit wow after they realized it was pointless to pvp in. They were lured in by the promise of an involved struggle between two factions(like Daoc) and instead got two factions who, other than not being able to communicate to eachother, just /wave and /bow while running by. People who pvp ussually want the person they kill to lose something. Its a "whos dick is bigger" contest all the time. If it means jackshit to win in pvp whats the fucking point?

You're talking about an MMORPG...there is NO point except to have fun. A lot of the WoW PVPers like the "carebear" pvp because it gives them challenge...face it, the best PVE AI doesn't hold a candle to PVP in terms of challenge. I think you're right and most of the pvpers from other games want hardcore I GOT ALLZ UR SHIT!!1! pvp NOT because of the inherent risk involved, but rather they really get off on griefing people.

minor update 2: game is fun, imo. I've been drawn in the more I play each time tbh. The dodge animation is pure hilarity though, and my fps weeps at 10- 25 still. /raglaum out

Ya alot of the people who want harsh penaltys like loot drop when you die.

Not that I think wow is even close to the be all end all of pvp. We could have alot more like player controled cities and conquerable stuff without catering to griefers much.

One of the pluses of VG is they claim they want player owned structures and guildhalls and even player cities later on.. so hopefully they do some nice pvp elements with those... but they should include the systems wow has like BGs too.

So if you want me to believe that VG runs 'well', I want to know your 3dmark2006 score, the settings you play VG@ (including res), and what FRAPS numbers for like

1) In the middle of nowhere
2) In a dungeon
3) In a city with NPC's
4) In a raid

All of that would be good info except when did FRAPS become the standard by which we judge FPS? You can view that number exactly without FRAPS.
