Edit: I mean my friend plans to play pretty heavily. I of course have no involvement with the VG beta and wouldn't know what it was if it hit me. Any implication of such was due to my lack of familiarity with English and/or whatever other reasons makes sense to the reader.

yeah I remember my computer would freeze playing Everquest back in the day, I had a great PC but the sound card was out of date so I just disabled it....and wow the change was 10000%, so if you have a cheap onboard sound card and you're playing a 3d game....disable it and you will see huge changes.

That happened to me as well. But I had a SB card, but a crap mobo.

Thats a good point actually, I didn't consider paying for gold or leveling. If you are going to go that route, Wow definately becomes the more expensive game by far.

is the understatement of the century. Blizzard needs to learn to work faster. Hopefully development cycles will be shorter now that they don't have to balance each encounter for entirely different skillsets with the faction class imbalances. Still doesn't help with the over-the-top retarded class balancing in PVP because of PVE and vice a versa, but it's a step in the right direction.

People keep talking about disabling the sound to increase performance. Does anyone know if buying a cheap sound-card will have the same effect? I hate playing with the sound off.

According to the dev posting a page or two earlier -- problem is with onboard sound -- so yes a cheap sound-card will help and a good sound card may actually add some fps.

Didnt get a chance to mess with it last night between work and patching. I hear new vulmane models are in though. Havent seen them myself. I like the new Raki however. Much better than the vids I saw of the old model.

By the way performance in general has been steadily getting much better.

Yes it should disable your on board sound.

Well, thats somewhat frustrating to someone like me who has a very fast laptop [7900 GTX Go, 2gigs of ram etc...] but it has onboard audio. Is there an option to just turn sound off in the game? I generally don't like game music anyways.
