Either that or with the first expansion for sure. It's like the german Endsieg, which has been delayed due to technical problems. It will come...one day. They promised it!

You mean that 'aggresive disposition' that's painted on his face when you create the character? So if Vanguards characters had a scowling disposition on their face ALL THE TIME due to the fact that the character model's face can't really do anything else but have a scowling disposition on his face this would be ok since they'd be using facial muscles?

Edit: Just what it up with this latest fag trend of 'wanting the characters in the screenshots to look directly into my eyes'?? I've never EVER heard this as a point of dissention in any game ever. Care to explain? 90% of the screenshots on TBC site have npcs doing the 'stare over my shoulder' move, yet no one really cares.

yes, because then they'd at least have a disposition.

No they aren't. OK OK the armour is alright but these faces look like shit compared the good shots we had back 6 months ago. What happened to them? Men looked handsome and women looked like women, not like a mutant offspring of Thrug the Barbarian and a Russian peasant woman.

You could break grown men on the faces of those women.

Armor looks good but unless they're doing some kind of Velious set system the chances of you ever looking like that are slim.

Well then if you are craving facial expressions that bad, you should check out EQ2. Characters in that game actually look at people automatically when they are next to them, have different moods that can change their entire facial disposition, and their faces actually change depending on the emote you do. Instead of looking like you want to rape children with a sadistic scowl on your face when doing the /cheer emote, characters in EQ2 actually look like they are happy for someone, as they should.

I'd rather have a character who's facial expression is 'blank' when they are merely looking out into the distance rather than one who's facial expression is a constant "I want to eat your entrails" regardless of whether or not he's killing something or just casually walking around the city. Why you WoW-folk are so easy to satisfy is just beyond me.

I spit up my coffee.

People actually complained about the turning-head thing in eq2 because it made them "feel like the center of the universe" or some such bs. Plus, it could be kind creepy in town when everyone stares you down as you get near. I dug it.

Mobs that are grey to you in eq2 actually cringe and shy away from you. It's great. Contrary to the wacked out idiocy on the subject that you find here, the animation in eq2 was one of its strengths, if just for its variety alone. Characters in eq2 seemed more alive than any other game, online or otherwise.

Hell yes. EQ2 is full of small, yet very living animations that really add to the game itself. As Kreugen mentioned, the whole 'cringe and shy away' animation when you are running past gray con mobs is great. And there is just something nice about walking thru the city, and having an NPC (which either has a quest for you or not) looking directly at you, and calling you over to talk to him just adds a lively feel that other games just don't have.

And as much space as it may take up, the fuckload of voices and actual voiced-dialogue that EQ2 contains really adds to the immersion factor well. Sure, most of us are just used to merely reading the text from NPCs, and most of the EQ2 players probably still click thru the text and skip most of the voiced-dialogue, but it still adds a great lively feel to the game itself.

Which part? The permanent 'rape and pillage' expression glued onto your characters face or the Power Ranger helmet that they use to cover it up?

Both, they fit in with the graphical STYLE and look they're going for. I don't understand why anyone would go for this realistic style for an MMORPG with no artists who are capable of recreating reality.

It seems Vanguard needs ARTISTS, not just someone who can create a model.

As for grey mobs cowering away, if you want realistic don't let the fucking deer run AT me when I shoot them with an arrow.

I remember a game where an idea like that was implemented. Gray con mobs would actually run away from you rather than cower when you got near them. Lets just say that idea didn't last very long, given all the shit it caused.
