In this context I think they mean that the avatars have no personality. I don't agree but then it's hard to get a true gauge of it from a static ss.

It's hard to explain. It basically appears as if there is no life behind those eyes. No personality is right.

Someone mentioned it looked like they are on drugs...i agree. They just seem like they're not truly there with each other.
You get 5 hardened adventurers side by side and it's like they're not even aware of the others or their surroundings.

I can't put my finger on it any better than that. They all just look completely spaced out, like zombies.

Maybe it's that the irises are too far apart, giving them the appearance of staring off into the distance, as opposed to looking at something (the viewer) closer?

I see what you are saying, but I don't see it in the shots. To me it looks no different than various WoW screencaps I took myself.

*edit*
Added an old screenshot for reference.

And another one.

The good news is that you're still alive. The bad news is that that's the good news. Also, you have no legs.

Hopefully Vanguard has better gameplay than graphics.

The difference is that none of the Vanguard characters seem to be using any facial muscles which is the common expression of a dead person or inanimate object. The orc in the WoW shots is scowling and appears to have an aggressive disposition. Is that so hard to see?

-edit: Actually, not all of the character models in the posted shots have that blank expression.

Heh, just noticed that. Do the female and male High Elves have the same hairstyle? Certainly looks like it.

Lets see- I counted at least 15 styles of armor not including the couple that had what I would consider a robe on. Thats already pretty damn impressive, compared to most mmos, and a lot of the armor looks really really nice. I especially like the armor the vulmane on the right has in the last picture- but man that vulmane has a creepy looking face. It is definately the pedofile of the vulmanes. The armor is really, really, really badass looking though, and shows a fairly unique style. If they keep producing armor to this quality, It'll fully justify their choice of the unibody in my book. I personally like that you can make a char look creepy. Creepy is good, having sliders that can go to what yonbeast accomplished, achieving a brian peppers-like Obscenity of a face though, that is bad. I do hope they put some form of slider control on. I'd also like to see an ability to add things like a big scar or something to break the uniformity of a face.

probably intentional. I've always thought of elves as the fruity type.

Dildo, please look again. There are 4 unique plate textures, 1 unique chain texture and 1 unique robe texture making a total of 6 unique armor textures in all of those pictures. Sure there are a bunch of color variations, but they are ultimately the same texture. Look at the High Elf picture and you will see the 4 unique plate textures on the 4 dudes in the back. You can also see the single unique chain graphic on the two dudes in the front and a color variation of the back-right dude's plate texture on female in the front-middle.
The robe graphic and its color variations can be viewed in a few of the other pictures.

We've also been seeing the Lion Shoulderguard plate graphic for months now and the others aren't anything new either. While these 6 unique textures do look pretty cool they are ultimately just color variations of eachother. I certainly hope Sigil plans to make a lot more armor graphics than what we have seen so far if they want to justify going with these retarded models.

Utnayan should make another picture with the heads black out. Or better yet replaced with Children of the Damned heads! (I wonder if anyone would notice the difference).

Don't worry guys it's still beta. These are just the beta models. When the game comes out it'll have the real next gen graphics that they have been promising...

...right?
