+75 Internets | It appears that GMs are being sent the following email: Quote:
I'm wondering how many people will have gotten invites by this method, which is definitely different from how they handled closed beta invites. How many GMs currently at end-game have gotten, or not gotten the email? Is it a good idea to have your primary resource of WoW beta testers be organized end-game raiding guilds? Are players recieving invites to closed beta other than this(and transfering from alpha testing)? How many?

I recieved one, Monday morning. I was going to post on this just now, glad to see that this has been authenticated and not some random scam to get accounts. If they are going to handle the content debugging in the same method as the Naxx push (where Furor himself came and led us around debugging, along with other senior content testers to firsthand view our methods, strategies and bugs we encountered) then I have very strong hopes for this. The more transparency, and community involvement one puts into a long term project the higher the customer satisfaction rate. That's a no brainer, and given the positive feedback from the community with respect to Naxx v. other MMO PR projects, I happily endorse this 'open inviting'. The only problem I can foresee to this, is like the Friends and Family alpha (and all the 'leaks', however I'm beginning to suspect given the volume available and lack of legal action this may be just a viral marketing move) it may be limited in future releases. I'm really looking forward to that Blonde Warlock and the idea of content testing the l70 t4 dungeon content. At this stage however, blizzard could simply release the character models in December and vivendi could buy every equity holder an M3.

| I was really impressed with the Naxx testing and how the devs were willing to work with us to test their encounters. It was a really positive experience. Hoping TBC is the same thing.

+38 Internets | Personally, I wouldn't want to get into beta. This is the first expansion for this game, and the first new HUGE burst of new content in 2 fucking years. To spoil all that in a beta with the typical beta changes and unfinished things seems... criminal. |

+49 Internets | Many of the guilds getting hook-ups are ones who participated in that special help forum Blizzard made a few months back. While I'm sure the big guys like D&T will get invites, alot of the lesser-knowns best chance was through that forum "contest".

+4 Internets | I received one of these this morning, and was about to post asking about it's authenticity a little earlier, but saw some chatter on the EJ forums that made it all sound believable enough. If it is a scam, what is their purpose? Is a persons name, character name and email addy enough to harm an account? |
