Sounds like she confirmed that it was a scam.

The heavy hand of moderation strikes not at the dissident rotten apples but at the strong few posting valuable information?! Haha just kidding Ravvenn.

I guess at this point it's a wait and see because it's being thrown across the entire WoW community, so clarification is probably going to be shortcoming.

good to be wary at this point... but until they start asking for acct info or other personal info its not really dangerous... char names, email, real name alone is pretty useless to anyone trying to hack you or scam you or whatever.

While I do have to wonder how you could fuck with someones account just with an email address (since you could easily provide one of your junk email accounts you don't use except for games or just shit that tends to spam), probably better to be safe than sorry.

If it's an email account that doesn't have a secure password (and we know there are retards out there...) then it could be quite easy to hack an email account using a brute force password cracker and search the email address for saved emails from Blizzard, possibly one that has your information on it.

Seems a possibility after the whole ordeal with the keyloggers and such. I don't know anything regarding these beta invites as I'm only in the proces of leveling a new character and no longer in any raiding guilds so I can't validate if anyone on Kalecgos horde side is getting these.

Edited my posts, going to wait for some better confirmation whether it's legit or not. I'd wait for now to be safe.

I don't know, very well could be a scam, but it's not asking for information that would be vital to your account. Unless the plan was to try to send malicious email to those accounts.

It's always better to be safe than sorry, but still the emails seem to be legit (the replyto). Hopefully it's a case of bad communication or something and everyone gets Betaz!

Even on the WoW General Forums no-one has replied to the 'fake or not' post. I think everyone is confused at this point. But atleast it will throw the newbies into a rage for good entertainment!

Most definitely, good looking out. Can't be too careful with all the keylogging bullshit going around these days.

I've had a couple of friends so far who have been hacked, and these are people who don't share info, etc. The only things anyone can find in common is that they used fileplanet and ctprofiles. That doesn't really narrow it down though, it could be one of a million things. It sucks though, just because of the keylogger thing, it's taking people ages to get their stuff back.

I think I'll hold off signing anything until one of the more tech savvy FoH'ers can confirm this.

Could someone simply just batphone Furor in the mirc?

yeah, patchtimer just replied to what I was thinking.
