And for the love of God people, don't make it anywhere near the storyline of the movies. Either make it far, far in the past or far, far in the future. Please. Let SWG be the example of what happens when you do this. "Han Solo stormed the Death Star and saved the galaxy from the tyranny of the Empire, all the while getting the girl and looking like a bad-ass. Me? I stand in front of Mos Eisley begging for Locked Containers and making drugs." Just. Not. The. Same.

| well the whole thing catered to micro management, and a lot of people got off on that. Once they removed the customizing details, everyone was kind of "where'd all my sand go?" and left. All I saw during the NGE was a lot of broken stuff and the usual overinflated promises and cheerleading by SOE CSR's on the boards. I didn't see a working game. GCW anyone?? The one thing the game needed was collision detection, but if they got melee combat even reasonably working without it I might check it out (station pass). So does melee still suck? Does combat overall still suck? |

+1 Internets | Combat is a little bit more FPS like with the NGE, but it got old in about a day (one of those free access passes to try and get resubs) Practically nothing to do, vast open terrain that is completely empty and devoid of anything of any interest. First time I played KOTOR I was saying "This is what SWG should have been"

It's slated as occuring in The Next Generation universe. Heavy into the strategy component, with alot of small cap group (read: TBC 5-20 man content) adventures, and minimal economic game design. Maybe not exactly what the market is itching for, but I think this is a strong underdog. There is also substantial rumor that Bethesda is still working on that Fallout MMO, as well as Bioware South has been shopping for established talent, and has renewed the Star Wars KOTR lisence and franchise.

| shit, i'd even settle for the space battles in SW: BF2 if only they deepened it a bit and made it more about strategy than just "blow that fucking thing up asap plz"... I don't see how it'd be so hard. I'm not sure how the mod community for that game is, or if there even is one, but it seems some intelligent modders could do some really cool stuff with that game's space battles. |

| SWG does still have (I presume) space battles, but they crippled PvP early after Jump to FWIW Stargate the MMO is going to be all squad combat so they say, all ground. |

| Im betting Lucas is fucking livid with Sony after this debacle, unless they fucked it up themselves with their "direction".

| I'm rather sad that both MxO and SWG turned out to be the giant flops that they were. I got SWG on the day of release hoping it'd be the new hotness to replace my sci-fi based MMO cravings and it was just one huge disappointment after another. I got into MxO pretty heavily in the beta to the point I pimped the damned thing in the NY Times and worked at "the" MxO online radio station at the time... but after a while realized the only time I was playing was when I had to for DJ events. Yet another letdown. I'd kill for a sci-fi based MMO that didn't suck right about now. |
