Bam, itemization.
They have talked about giving players their own bases. They have talked about having space and sea missions. They have talked about giving players vehicles like motorcycles, cars and jets. They have talked about adding in City of Spies.

It would be nice of they fixed the broken systems in the game first before even thinking about this stuff. Given this team's slow pace of implementation (last patch took eight months), I predict that this game will be finally in finished mode by 2010.

CoH is really great up until the point of not having loot or an end game. They didn't have to copy EQ or WoW in that regard. It could have been something unique and suited for a superhero world. If they had done that and kept the lvl of character design, combat, etc... they probably would be sitting on a million subs or more.

I believe that was in reference to the "Invention" system, which is different from the "Legends" thing. Positron previously said we'd be getting the first half of the endgame now and the rest with the following issues. I8 was supposed to still have some level 50+ missions and such. I suppose I have no clue whether or not it's going to be in, but if not, it seems like they could really avoid the anger that'll result from it if they just acknowledge it now rather than just seemingly hoping everyone will forget about it.

2- Influence (money) is too easy to get. Statesman said that it was intended that getting SO's would be much harder to get. The enhancement system in place was supposed to be the only itemization. But since influence flows too easy past level 30, getting SO's is nothing special. The devs have stated this was not intended (probably should have run a longer beta).
Not just a problem that influence is so common, but that nearly every enhancement in the game is readily available as well. Doing this with DOs and SOs was perhaps their biggest mistake. With that, they removed the itemization system they designed, but also made it so all the balance changes had to be done in the year following release. Had SOs been hard to come by, few people would've been able to stick 6 SOs in Endurance and Hasten, and when the devs realized what a problem that was, far fewer people would've been impacted by the change.

3- As I understand it, base raiding is so buggy that as a whole, the players aren't doing it much. Posi confirmed this.
Yeah, horribly buggy and crashy from what I've heard. Of course, there's also the fact that the main feature that was supposed to make bases worth raiding (ie Items of Power) has yet to be implemented nearly a year later. Base raiding was truly something innovative and something I really looked forward to. It's sad that they haven't gotten it working yet.

Are you kidding? Items of Power still aren't in?

The fanbois on their forums have to be getting a little bit pissed, right?

They pretty much have come out and said they see no value in adding these to the game. Sadly, they implemented a kickass base designing system, but have set it up so so few people will ever actually get to play with it. I mean, just giving players the ability to play with it would be a good enough reason, in my opinion. Aside from that though, I could think of tons of things they could do with personal basis. Just look at some of the stuff EQ2 does. Allowing people to get stuff to add to their base is perfect for CoH since it's not actually "loot." But there's also the fact that they could do NPC raiding and such. Just seems like they aren't even trying in regards to bases anymore.

Not really, no. I think most of the fanbase doesn't care about PvP in the least, and is actually happier that they are spending their time on other things. IoPs are supposed to go in with I8, but it'll just be the raid to get them. Base raids are still out. So, basically, you get the IoP and get the buffs, then they poof after a certain set of days and you have to do the raid again to get it back.

Cave Missions

This cave missions made me gag, every other repeative mission type I sort of could endure but the caves were a pain in the ass!

Oh come on now...surely you enjoyed hunting in nooks and crannies of Orenbaga looking for a pedestal or a Mage? Right? RIGHT? Surely SOMEONE enjoyed these.

Ok, probably not.

Doing Citadel's TF and having the same tileset for the entire thing (as well as the same, exact setup for a few) killed any enjoyment I had for that one.
