Btw, have you tried go in a combat stance and then move sideways or backwards? If you don't know what I'm talking about try to log in, target something and go in combat stance, then move. That's what looks absolutely HIDEOUS in EQ2.

That's the kind of stuff you need fixing before the rest. Then the rest.
Agreed entirely. The sloppy/choppy transitions of animations in the game (slow-fast, combat-moving, moving-stopping, etc etc) was a major turnoff for me, and a real contributor in my decision to stop playing at the end of my 30 day free trial.

QFT.

Even though there were gameplay issues back at release, honestly the thing that really swayed me towards leaving the game was how shitty everything looked. Plastic, artificial, theater-set environments with no soul at all, filled up with rubbery, plasticy player models that had realistic detail but all looked ridiculous like they'd had too much plastic surgery done by an alien or something.

But yeah, the animations....ugh. The quality of the motion capture or whatever that was used was great. Some of the emotes were very nice, but the fact that they were completely identical for everyone just really sucked the life out of the game for me. More importantly, the majority of the movement and combat animations looked horrid. I'm sorry, but it really kills immersion for me when I'm swinging a weapon in a manner that no intelligent or well-trained person would ever do.

I considered coming back due to the ridiculous healbot nature of Paladins in WoW, but I ended up realizing that I'd rather play my class "against the grain" and deal with horrible itemization and some class design issues rather than stare at EQ2 again, even with the SOGA models which were for the most part a very nice improvement.

While cloaks are nice, are there any plans to fix balance on the PVP servers?

Moreover, how do exiles fit into the new equation? Since the 3rd city is neutral will being exile really have nothing to do in EOF?

It's sad seeing half my guild who have cleared DT quitting because huge game play issues (wtfpwn brigand and the please-one-shot-me-caster), etc. My server pop has dropped to the lowest among any server in game simply because of these issues, that's thousands of customers gone (and Vox needs a merge BAD)

This is a slight derail, but all I've gotten is crickets from sony, from several channels. I'm hoping this will be different. If you would feel more comfortable replying in PM I can delete this post.

My suggestion: let everyone work up faction with the 3rd city and let all those with the faction from the 3rd city group together therefore removing the betrayal mechanic except for those who actually want to betray.PVP. OR better yet, one good and one evil faction (tunare, bertoxxulous) that you can choose that will decide who/where you can group with.

Cause I exiled because it was the ONLY guild on vox doing content, and now I'm stuck exiled while Qeynos is stuck with too few players to clear vyemm's where the pop dips a little more every day.

So is this stuff in already? Think anyone could make a tiny little movie thingy so those of us that don't play EQ2 could get a look at this?

about time. animations are hideous for the most part. Seems to be a serious problem that EQ2 and Vanguard (possibly) suffer from.

to be fair WoW has some stupid animations, but gets away with it since the characters aren't trying to look 'real' and most aren't human.

Female jogging always looked hilarious to me, it was just the "seductive stroll" animation, but with swinging arms and sped the fuck up

^^ Watching my character run always reminded me of Lothar of the Hill People.

Improving the female run animation is a good step in the right direction, but it's one of those things that could have been done two years ago.

EQ2 and Vangaurd DREAM of the polish and fluidity of WoW's animation system.

I dont think you understand what you quoted. Its only polished and fluid because its a cartoon, and you dont hold it to the same scrutiny that you would a real person. Take the WoW animations, and think of them with EQ2 models. It would look worse then it does now.

All that matters is the result, if they chose a style they can make look polished and fluid, and EQ2/Vanguard did not, the fault clearly lies with EQ2/Vanguard.

No obviously it's Blizzards fault for making their game's style polished and fluid.

Oh dont get me wrong, I agree. I'm just saying to try to pull off what EQ2/Vanguard is trying to do it alot harder then what WoW did. I just dont think its really a valid comparison.

That's not fair at all, dude. The best you can do is compare the overall "feel" of both worlds and if they both stay consistent to their styles. Comparing how both companies would compete when put in the other's shoes would be pointless.
