Oh, I almost forgot.

Every game needs a god damn "Link All" button. Fuck I hate linking each piece of loot off a mob to a grp/raid

FFXI has an autoloot system where if you're solo everything is automatically cleared from the corpse and put into inventory if at all possible. The one issue with it is that it doesn't stack shit if it's possible to be stacked, so you end up with lots of loose shit and have to sort frequently to clear it up. Make that automatic and it's a great system. In a group, the money is autosplit and then the loot goes into this sorta shared pool, and if everyone ignores it, it automatically divies up the loot randomly to people able to loot it (ie a rare/lore item that someone already has banked won't be awarded to them) or you can "cast lots" which basically randoms for the item you select from the little treasure pool menu and if you win it automatically is put into your inventory if possible.

Neat system, other games need to emulate it in theory but improve upon it slightly.

Thanks for clarifying that. I had played FFxi briefly like 3 years ago and I remember being absolutely fucking thrilled with how loot was handled. Just if, y'know, every other aspect of the game hadn't sucked so bad. <3

RPG's where I have to target/right click on a corpse to loot it isn't 'immersive' it's annoying. If I'm solo, auto-straight to inventory.
It's not quite the same, but if you target a corpse and do shift-rclick in WoW, it loots everything off of it automatically.

Be realistic before you start spouting your pipe dream. There are well over 100 US WoW servers alone. Do you expect Blizzard to hire that many people to control events with the bnet kiddy WoW population?

I liked the way EQ2 handled buffs, and would like to see that implemented in other games. Basically, you cast a buff on yourself or a party member and it stays up until they leave the group. I was completely shocked the first time I realized I didn't have to keep rebuffing. There was a limit to the total number of buffs you could maintain, so at some point you had to pick and choose who got what.

Contrast this with WoW or EQ, where you're constantly refreshing buffs. WTF, who came up with buffs that lasted less than 5 minutes and thought that was a good idea?

Fun -----> Not Fun

Fun please.

Concentration Buffs are a mechanic stolen from DAoC, AFAIK. TTFN.

Hold on a second there.

What difference does it make if there are 1.5 million US players on 150 servers, or 20000 players on 2 servers?

You might need one GM controlling bad guys per 4 servers or something, for 8 hours during prime time each day he spawns some raid mobs and raids captial city X. After 2 hours if he hasn't been killed he despawns. He goes to the next server and starts some shit up.

One 12 dollar an hour employee 8 hours a day with 100% overhead costs you 358 15 dollar a month subscriptions, spread over 4 servers is around 90 subs per server.

If the live program would pull in more than 90 subs per server, it's a win.

Why the fuck aren't they doing this?

The "Good" aspects of FFXI were the subjob system, it's auction house (Items are listed in sub categories much like WOW, but instead of having to bargain hunt or have retards price stuff ridiculously high that you way overpay for, it lists the 10 more recent transactions involving that exact item and the price that was paid, you select your bid for that item and the system autosearches to see if any of the items fall at or below your price, and the purchase is successful if so. Imo far superior to the wow system) and the previously mentioned auto-loot system. Well, and the dragoon af1 armor graphics~

All three of those should probably have a place in most mmos today.
