Live GM events and quests

There is no excuse for a company like Blizzard not being able to have a staff of quest GMs that produce and perform live GM events. We've never got an acceptable explanation from Morhaime, Metzen, Pardo or Kaplan as to why this is. Part of the thrill of EverQuest was that you never knew when a god or a dragon would come to life (under the control of a gamemaster) and bring some fresh air to the stale predictability that ends up plauging most online games.

There is only so much you can do with scripted quests and events. Virtual worlds of the future will have a dedicated quest troupe that will infuse their worlds with LIVE quests and events.

A failing grade of F to Blizzard for depriving their 6.5 million players of the thrill and immediacy of live events.

Non-pussy GM's who'll roll up and ban people who get caught exploiting. Seriously Blizzard, it's not a revenue loss. Anyone you catch exploiting will get a new account and come back.

Properly tuned content

Invite-Only tuning by well rounded capable guilds who have a clue about the game (a la EQ). Not bullshit pug-testing (a la WoW).

hmm good question

physics- player collision, destroyable objects etc, would be nice.

in game events. would be nice.

here is one that is key to me:

for the game AT RELEASE to run at medium (assuming a low medium and high ability for graphics)quality settings on a generation old video card (for example right now a game to get 15+ fps in all situations on an x800/6800 class video card under medium settings in game) and get 15+ fps in all situations. - future proofing is a good idea, but eq2 showed that it does not work well. sure eq2 NOW is hitting it's stride graphics wise-- 3 generations of video cards later-- at release it wasn't that.

sufficient content to be able to go thru the game atleast twice with minimal repetition of content for most of the game.

multiple starting areas (sorry eq2 i hate the homogenized single starting zone setup) one for each race...

Not as idiotic as making a list of universal features that every MMO should, supposedly, have.

Arbitrary disagreement would imply that the things I mentioned would never be pertinent to MMOs. However, if you had half a shred of intelligence, you would know that I've only listed ideas that have been bantered around the MMO scene for quite a while now. Run speed doesn't apply if it's not on land, for example, applies to a large degree in a game set in space called EVE. In assuming an universal feature in the ambulatory domain, the poster is already making an assumption - that every MMO involves movement on two legs. Such naivete coupled with the claim to universalism does not make for good discussion.

My point, in case you could not tease it out of my hastily done post, is that there is no such thing as a universal list of features that every MMO should have. To pose such limits is to commit the ultimate error of being close-minded, which no MMO developer or designer - assuming that they read this thread, which they shouldn't - should ever be.

In short, this thread sucks and will likely end up as "what features do you most like/want to see in MMOs," and I'm here to tell you why.

Mangina races or subs will be cut in half. At least one suit of chainmail in bikini/thong form.

Note that all games that break 1million subs have had this.

For the love of god's fucking sakes Etan, just roll with the thread. This isn't wax philosophical here. This is a simple "I wish" thread. If you can't enjoy it, go masturbate into a bowl of kitten tears.

Anyways.

For the love of god a better looting system. WoW's is absolutely fucking dreadful. Having to make a /lootall macro for EQ is bad enough. RPG's where I have to target/right click on a corpse to loot it isn't 'immersive' it's annoying. If I'm solo, auto-straight to inventory. In groups/raids it should simply enter a generic 'loot satchel' that anyone can view and the leader can deligate somehow (via either preset rules like round robin, auto-randoming, master loot, ffa, whatever).

My wish list is about 3000 things long, but now that I'm in super farm mode for the expansion (So far from level 1-24 every 2 levels my Manginadin will have a new set of gear, <3) this has become the most annoying. Having to run around right clicking on everything makes me wants to murder babies, and then there's the chore of having to destroy 90% of the shit I loot (Thank god for auto-destroy though, <3 u so much Torrid).
