The insanely fucktarded amount of resists handed out are also why almost all spell abilities need to be default death touch like to someone with low resist, and why in PVP casters take it up the ass.

Here's hoping for EOF.

QFT, While EQ2 raids from my experience don't have the ton of Triathalon type movement of WOW, the raids rely more on management at a skill level than that of where your standing (not to say they're aren't raids without that).

Nor is EQ2 the Modfest that WoW is regards to raids, their are 0 mods that do anything for you (decursive etc) nor are their pre-installed boss mods with walkthroughs. In general raiding is a bit more secretive and cryptic in EQ2 but this could be due to just a lower player base.

A smaller playerbase has a lot to do with it, but WoW boss modding has become a vicious cycle since Blizzard is now keen to the capabilities of their API. There is a large number of fights in WoW that without your entire raid having knowledge of exactly when a timed ability will fire, the difficulty would be exponentially higher or just plain impossible.

Their are a ton of timer based abilities in EQ2 that require that kind of precision also, but we manage with good old Ventrillo and People keeping time.

Is magmadar a good example here? When you're first starting out on him, a tranq addon and some sort of fear warning 'seems' necessary. After so many mag runs, it can eventually be done with 20 or less people who are only using vent to talk about their day at work.

CTRaid and bossmods are simply conveniences that allow people with ADD to remember to look back at the screen during a fight. It doesn't make anyone better or smarter, just tells them what to do next during an encounter.

In all honestly you can't really compare raiding in wow to eq2 that much. Different mechanics, different amount of people etc. It's apples and oranges.

I didn't think about it in this sense before. Blizzard knows people will use mods to help them time certain strategies for the encounter, so they develop the encounters with this type of dead-on calculated precision required, thus almost forcing the playerbase the use the mods. So in a way, the mods end up almost hurting the playerbase, as the upper hand they had would now gives them a bigger chance to fail.

Damn, if Blizzard is really doing that, thats both ingenius and devilish all at the same time.

Also, for the guy last page that was asking for a useful page, this site has spell info and racial heritage info, it's the only place I've found the Froglok heritage traits hehe.

EQ2Ref is basically the same thing as the one Kuro linked, but it allows comparisons between the spells of the various archetypes, which is nice if you're debating between two classes you want to play.

eq.gamepressure.com is great for maps and quests.

New EoF page up. Not sure how new, but its not the old one. This has alot more SS's, a picture of the new cloaks on a character, new race SS's, map of the continent, and a new movie. All in all it looks mighty kickass.

http://everquest2.station.sony.com/e...ydwer/flash.vm

Edit: In the FAQ's, it states that if you buy the retail EoF (meaning from the store), you get EQ2 and all previous expansion packs with it. So for those who want to play but are afraid of spending 100+ on the game and packs, you dont have to worry. Retail should be about $40. And since EoF is content from 1-70, starting fresh shouldnt be a worry either, since alot of people will likely reroll with the Fae, there should be lots of people to group with.

I hate how out of control modding has got with Warcraft. The little bells and whistles for raiding never bothered me it was alot of the other stuff. The mods that auto cast this, or auto use that. I think mods should assist in getting the job done... not do it for you.

I dont know how it is for other classes but healers have so many mods available to them that skill goes right out the window. It use to make me cringe when I would see people say things like "I couldnt live without emergency monitor" blah. Is keeping an eye on the raids general health really so difficult that we need a mod that says "Omg heal this guy fucker!"

/sigh

That's great it will include all versions. I hope that means it will also let you activate EoF on a current account to unlock DoF and KoS
