| EQ2 Raid video's aren't nearly as available as WoW ones. I'm not sure what it is but their are very few if any walkthroughs for most raid mobs (unless they are older tier). Because EQ2 has a lot more contested encounters (like the one above) I doubt you would ever see any video's produced to show how they are killed. |

+20 Internets | I'm going to go with the fact that WoW has roughly 40x the amount of people killing the stuff. =) And the fact that you can fraps WoW with good fps, but to fraps EQ2..... well it would be more of a slideshow presentation than a video. =\ |

| There's something calming about there not being 9,000 videos of how to do the encounters of EQ2 being found online. And Ham, if they didn't put any resists on lower level gear, how long before the lower level people start bitching about them having no resists on their gear? (Because you know something like that would be inevitable.) ![]() |

On a calmer note, the total number of subscribers really doesn't affect the player base who just wants to play *all* that much. You are looking at things on a Producer level, wherein numbers = success. To the general playerbase tho, as long as there is enough people for the game to continue, which we've seen is only in the hundreds of thousands rather than the 6 million you boast WoW holds, the game will continue to be fun. You won't find a crowd more hard to convince of EQ2's failure than the EQ2's current playerbase tho. If from anything of what i've seen, EQ2's player base right now is made of up people who have either always loved EQ, or mostly by people who've done the Lineage/WoW route, and couldn't stand it. Almost everyone i've run into has a loathing hatred for WoW, and EQ2 was just the drug they needed to give them their fix. I understand why you would think numbers = success, and from a Producer's standpoint you wouldn't be all that wrong. Just remember that this is a board for gamers, not producers, and whether or not a game is successful is going to look alot different thru the eyes of the average player (us). I mean, Logitech doesn't have to be the best top-selling name brand in the world for me to buy products from them, yes? Even if their selling numbers are lower than say, Microsoft, would you deny the success of Logitech? It's a rough analogy, but it still works. | |
