Looked like a low level mob and also threat level one. Did we catch Jerrith bottom feeding?

Actually, I'm not sure he even got exp for that mob. Like Jerrith said, he was showing off animations primarily.

Personally I think the video looks great. The graphic style is much more to my taste than the cartoony wow - I actually felt a slight flutter that was akin to when I first played Everquest and was overwhelmed at how big and awesome everything was.

Honestly I can't wait to play Vanguard.

The video quality is really high so when I put that into Full screen on my computer, I felt like I was in the game which was pretty awesome. The combat looks fairly exciting and I am only hoping they keep the whole reaction combat, or at least it gets a little bit more in-depth. When I say it looks like WoW, I am not just talking about the UI. The combat is hit a button, hit a button, hit a button. I fully expect there to be customizable and situational chains, along with the promised Rescues/Intercepts, Counter spells, and Symbiotic abilities. But hey, that is just from looking at the short clip (now I am just rambling...). Nonetheless, nice to see a video from the devs themselves. Shows a lot of commitment, not just as a company but fellow gamers. Hopefully we see some group action with that reaction window lighting up a whole bunch!

*cough* Since Aradune is browsing the boards currently I may as well ask, will Sigil be upping the beta invite limit from 500 a day any time soon?

edit: I am not a man of words, lots of editting!

Damn that makes things look much better, that video will beat any screenshot you ever post, simply because everyone wants to see the game in action. Nice job, things look great but dont settle. I might actually try this game now.

Graphics look fine but the combat was kind of bland, as some posters have mentioned. This is probably due to the setup of this fight. Looking forward to seeing more - esp. group - fights.

Better than it was.

As to the original poster. Don't be offended if you were. I liked the video, graphics just aren't my preference. I am also glad you posted it.

I realize it's a tall order, but I'd love to see another video with a group fight, spells being cast, and camera movement. Either all at once or separate videos is fine

Just wondering again about the mob doing the half second pause when it gets hit.
Is that a specific problem with that mobs animation, or something having to do with the interaction between the two?

If you don't mind my asking...

What's your opinion on people being able to move while in combat? I think the thing that bugged me most about EQ and EQ2 is moving was largely detrimental to combat. Wheras in WoW if you're not on the move you're generaly doing something wrong.

I think of the things that endear me most about WoW combat is the FPS appeal to it. Not just because it's fast paced with a hotbar full of insta-casts, but because although you're not forced to move around alot, if you're like me and you like bunny hopping and circle-strafing you're not terribly penalized.

And I don't mean kiting either. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of kiting (used to quad-kite back in Karnor's Castle basement with my wizard, hah, take that dungeons designed for groups!), but it's just not the same.

Basically what I'm saying is having hotbars full of cool abilities is only half the battle. There's a reason FPS's are succesful despite players only having basically 1 major ability (shoot). It's because moving around during combat is as much if not more appealing then having a multitude of attacks available to you.

The video does look nice though for what it is.

I would hope that Vanguard's raids are just as complex as WoW's with regards to movement, but who knows. Certainly this video is a bad example - but then how many classes in WoW move around while soloing a grey mob?

I thought at first glance it was WoW, but no problem, the combat seemed a tad boring but maybe skill combos etc makes it more exciting if you play yourself or fight tougher things.

However I sort of missed graphical effects a tad, what I mean is that I would have seen a warrior in WoW fight a mob that would have been probably a bit more intense. AkA charge, maybe a thunderclap, heroic strike and some bleeding. /shrug

Yes, absolutely. In the same vein as WoW I enjoy lots of movement in Guild Wars, where moving is half the fight. The MUST STAND STILL AND NOT FLINCH of EQ was not missed at all.
