The other day got around to watching this vid + two other VG vids, and must say - game looks sooo much better in motion than the screens.

Meaning, a level 4 mob will have a cap of level 3 perception?
If I had to make a guess UT, it would be that “perception” is used to see mobs that are trying to hide.
Not every single mob in the game.

At least that would make more sense than invisible mobs everywhere in the game.

We are actually talking about the weirdest part of the game. You get to a wide open area that looks completely lifeless, dead and empty, but every 30m something will pop up in your path. After a while you notice that this works like a 30x30 mesh. The whole world is FULL of yardtrash, you simply don't see it 31m away.
I find it interesting you used those exact numbers. You can see mobs at 30m but not at 31m.
After watching the video I see that the mob was pulled from exactly 31m, and I could see him pretty clearly.

AS for the video itself: I thought it was only OK not great. I agree with the poster who says it looks weird seeing the mob pulled and then the player just standing idle while it runs at him.

LOL also just how long are those swords that he can hit the mob from 4m away? :P nit picky stuff but still worth mentioning.

Thank you for the video it is a lot cooler then a screen shot.

More videos please lets see some group action.

I would guess that perception only applies to specific attacks, and not the mob itself.

yeah you would probably have to try and "detect" a hidden mob.

I still doubt all mobs are invisible though that would be a silly mechanic.

I didn't have a range detector. 30m was my guess, maybe it was 28m, maybe 32m. Overall it doesn't change much. As soon as you leave the road you will see a mob pop up ~30m away. You kill this mob, walk ~30m and wooops, there is another one and so on. In case you miss a mob, don't worry because it will add on the next fight which usually leads to some huge ass train. Sometimes it simply says "OVERLOOKED" and you get attacked out of nowhere.

That's what it was about 2-3 months ago and it looked like a feature to stay. If it got changed in the meantime is something I don't know. What I do know though is that they shrunk the aggro radius of that yardtrash for high level players, so only the low/mid level players have to deal with this annoying shit.

I see, so what your saying is it could have been 28m, or 32m, or maybe even 50m or 100m you’re just guessing. From information you had 3 months ago in a game still in beta.

Thanks for the info mate, maybe I better wait until open beta before I judge what the hell the real case is.

Peace…

About the yardtrash that either shows or doesn't, you are trying to mislead people again. Perception is a feature in this game! This means you aren't supposed to see these mobs, because they are supposed to attack you while you are unaware. The actual transition of this concept leads to a dead landscape with mobs jumping you out of nowhere. You can have the highest clipping possible (2 FPS) and it won't help, because once again, this is a concept.

Highly, highly doubtful. And I can't believe this bs sparked enough discussion to fill 3 pages.

It's already been stated that code still needs to be optimized.. Could it be that when/where monsters pop up is part of that code optimization? And that the higher clipping plane will be addressed as well to allow higher framerates so you can see that extra shit in the distance?

Neric once again is talking COMPLETELY OUT OF HIS ASS.

Perception only works in combat, and you "see" what the mob is doing/targeting/casting/etc. Overlooked means you got "owned" effectively - Overlooked is the "dodge" for Perception. If you overlook a mob after you successfully perceived - you won't know who he is targeting for a while/what he is doing/casting.

Mobs show up plenty far away (as far as 70m on medium settings!).

So keep talking out of your ass dude, preach on retard.

He sure is.

The guy I know that happens to play the game with an outdated system (Radeon 9700 GPU el-oh-el...) can see mobs plenty far away. Not once has a monster popped up out of nowhere while he was running along minding his own business, nor did he see the mobs vanish when he was 30+ yards away.

I think, though, (and this is pure speculation) that Perception may come into play with specific mobs you may encounter while just running along that are stealthed. For example, you may be riding along on your horse and a stealthed highway robber attempts to knock you off your horse, but your Perception "roll" allows you to potentially avoid his attack without actually engaging in combat.

I was describing what I saw while I played this game /shrug. If you had a different experience, maybe you were testing a different game.

So you are claiming that the mechanics that I described are no longer part of the game?

everyone is telling you this "mechanics" was NEVER ingame, and that you live in a neverending state of allucination

they also telling you are an idiot who likes to write retarded things about non existance features of a game you admit you played for few days, months ago, before most of the major updates were introduced

my personal contribution is a question:

are you and Utnayan trying to win somekind of special award for harassing this forum with posts that even Albert the space monkey would be ashamed of?
