DAoC new Expansion

I know most of you don't give a shit but some might, who like me have went back to playing DAoC just for something to do while waiting on better things to come out.

Minos WOOT!

I guess I will be rerolling a mino since they look pretty cool.

Wonder how many expansions this game will get in the next year with EA behind it now.

Probably none, after DAOC hits rock bottom, which it very well could be now, and if WAR isn't a success - say 500k subs, i'd bet EA dissolves Mythic and moves all their employees to Redwood, just like the other half dozen studios they destroyed.

DAOC used to be a very cool game. The PvE content wasn't great, but there were a ton of interesting classes and the PvP was good.

I miss my friar

I dunno, "The Labyrinth" actually sounds pretty cool, as long as there's lots of content throughout.

DAoC had some really cool dungeon designs. I loved all the dungeons from SI expansion and on. Just what really really sucked was the way PvE was designed (to hit code.. fuck you) .

The labyrinth im sure will look really good, and prolly have a lot of stuff to do. Problem is that its just going to be farmed by animists/Focus DS Pet casters. =/ *Cough ML9 Enchanters Cough*

The DAOC hit code ranks right up there with WoW's Honor System as the worst implemented things in any MMORPG I've played.

When casters did more damage by swinging their staff than by casting spells, something is terribly wrong.

Years later, I'm still amazed how fast people fled this game. Makes me sad.

The idea that 500k is not a success makes me sadder.

I'd say it depends on the budget of a game on what you'd consider a success. If I'm not mistaken warhammer has a pretty massive budget at around 60 million? If so, I'd say warhammer probably needs to hit about 300-400k subs in its first year to break even. I'd consider 500k a pretty big success.

EA bought out Mythic because they want Warhammer to be the next WoW.

So what's DAOC's total subscriber number nowadays? I'm guessing the information at mmogchart.com is wrong, if indeed NA has ~8,000 players.

In all fairness it looks like something is wrong with the Herald's data, it hasn't updated since the 21st, and it was at 6:30.

Right now there's 11k, still a far cry from the glory days.

I used to play A skald on the tristan server. I made the first ram on the mid side and put it up in Jord...peopel came from all over mid to stand wiht it and take SSs lol... I miss the good fun we used to have way back then.

As for now since RvR is so damn dead on the tristan cluster, or I should say so one damn sided, that I rerolled on Gaheris and got my 5th 50 up..a friar. It's alot of fun to play and just amass wealth, which I seem to do in every game for some reason...hehe, and I love the new dungeons and ToA stuff now that I am not playing on a pvp server where ToA shit broke the game.

Want to talk about one of the most moronic statements everr made by a gaming company...any of you remember the guy who said to us "ToA will in NO way effect RvR!" ROFLMAO!!!

If any of you ever want to roll on Gaheris give me a shout... I am on Danadin or Camerous most days. No RvR but hell RvR is dead on most servers any damn way...might as well get the benefit of farming keep mobs for seals for Realm Points instead of being ganked every 5 mins by roaming stealth groups or zerged to damn death all the time.
