We are stuck on Thaddius because Illidan blows during prime-time 6 out of 7 days of the week :<

So we killing Haigan and Gothik instead while we wait for new hardware.

I've heard a lot about lag and Thaddius; without spoiling the encounter why is it so latency intensive?

Raid-wide buff (ala Vael buff), and your buff interacts with buff of people around you. Plus all sort of sparky gfx. So you get server lag from calculating all buff interactions, connection lag with all that info transferred to combat log and gfx lag on top of that. Joy.

40 people have to react within two seconds of seeing something change. If a single person fucks up, they kill themselves and possibly 5 other people. If two people fuck up, they kill themselves and at minimum 2-3 more, with the potential for lots of carnage. Now repeat that check a dozen times or so.

I think a lot of people are more interested in working on 4h atm over Loatheb. I know we are for the obvious pain in the ass use of consumables he is.

And to add to what wodin said, even one dps dying can screw you over pretty badly.

The lag gets worse and worse on Thaddius the more you wipe, because the server keeps track of the skeletons too. You can minimize skeleton creation but it stilll builds up.

Plus the fact even with no lag you need to be potted out to have a good chance, makes it all very difficult on day 1 servers still with old hardware.

We have wasted entirely too much time on Thaddius sadly because its not that hard of a fight. Just the lag makes it borderline impossible, and we can't raid at 3am because well, people have shit to do.

So how do you minimize skeletons short of taking a break to reset the instance? The best we've managed is 8% because someones heal ends up lagged and the person they were going to heal ends up taking 3 chain lightnings in a row before said heal finishes casting, so you lose damage buffs and your dps slows up just a little bit every transition. Its not even folks screwing up transitions. We haven't had a balls out consumable attempt (i.e. flask every mage and everything else, multiple foods/buffs for rogues/warriors).

The fight is simply infuriating to me. Add on random lag spikes causing wipes and Naxxramas is losing its fun.

It's easy to minimize skeletons. You can do total wipe recovery on Thaddius, make sure everyone dies on his platform, AFTER the event resets (i.e., Thaddius respawns untargetable) you can soulstone/come out of DI and res everyone.

You don't leave a skeleton if you get ressed, only if you release and run back. After everyone is rezed just run back to the door through the middle of the slime.
