The REAL problem is that raiding has too many entry barriers. It would be nice if there were raids where any random person can just ride up and join in, contribute for as long as he wants, then leave and yet still get rewarded for his time. I believe this is one reason why PvP in WoW is so popular.
pvp is popular cause half the people get off thinking they are ruining someone elses day =/

raiding requires a leader, pvp autojoins you to groups, it works for pvp cause even if it autojoins you to a group of monkeys flinging feces you get rewarded for losing... pve doesnt work like that cause you get penalized for losing... im not sure that i would want pve to become like that. PvP system is like giving you the two options 1. kill geddon on first attempt, get loot, 2. wipe to geddon 3 times, get loot.

This ridiculously inane characterization of the pvp system makes me think you don't actually play WoW at all.

There are lots of stupid things about WoW PvP. Giving someone one mark for a loss isn't one of them. I fail to see how defeating someone in a PvP battleground is "ruining their day" .. I suppose anytime you lose it sucks, but the people who get off on greifing are in duskwood/stonetalon camping people 40 levels lower than them, not fighting in the battlegrounds.

In the new expansion there are going to be a number of items that are going to piss off the people who are totally decked out in the final equipment available before TBC goes live.

It is going to happen.

Who raids thinking the loot they get will last for 5 years? Of course you'll replace it. I don't want to wear the same shit for months and months...

Why bother trying to reach HWL via PVP now ? think they will autoupgrade the PVP-rewards ? No way will that happen.

Some of the arguments here delivered make me wonder why you even play the game right now.

yeah. We've switched from "your T3 gear is going to be obsoleted by BRD-level blues" to "well, T3 is going to last you until you start going to dungeons with instance IDs".

Which is much more logical.

The mention of getting sidegrades in normal end-game dungeons sounds weird until you realise the main difference between classical stuff and TBC.

Sockets.

Let's take an imaginary epic ilvl 90 helm:
- 24sta, 24int, 24spi, 2% critic, 28dmg

That's your naxx-level loot.

Now, take an equally imaginary hat from an end-game dungeon. It's ilvl 73 blue, from the local Drakkisath:
- 18sta, 18int, 15spi, 22dmg

That's your end-game dungeon loot. Hardly sounds like a sidegrade from Naxx, does it?

But then, you notice the 3 little slots on the item panel. And lo and behold, you have in your inventory 3 gems your friend crafted during E3:

1 Glowing Shadow Draenite: 5sta, +6dmg
1 gem with +1% critic
1 gem with +3mana/5s, 5int

and guess what? They're the correct color for their slots, and together, they add another +8int to the helm (according to the socketing sample, correct color scheme seem to give you the equivalent of another additional fixed gem)

Now, suddendly, your hat is
- 23sta, 31int, 15spi, 1% crit, +3mana/5s, 28dmg

Is that a sidegrade, or not? Sure looks like one to me. And it still follows the existing ilvl curve - if you just assume thet sockets don't count in itemization budget (just like enchanting doesn't count).

PS: Trading well for universal dissolvers XIII, plz send tells

I even expect T2 to last, given how easily it will be obtained at least. T1 probably not, and I doubt people will go to that shit zone with 20 man.

BWL should be nice cash with 15 ppl though

Bingo. I PVP now specifically because I like teaming up with a warrior (as a resto shammy) and owning faces. Not to get any particular items. There is absolutely no point in going for High Warlord right now because in six months the absolutely ridiculous amount of time you have to put in for it is going to come to naught. The current HWL rewards will be a joke and you'll have hundreds of HWL/FM bitching about it (and rightfully so). Until they change the PVP system to something where people with a day job have a realistic shot at making max rank, I'll continue to be a casual PVPer.

Dude, I'm already embarassed to be wearing full T1. Of course shaman T1/T2 isn't much of an upgrade path but I'm talking about the "ooh" factor of having the lion-head shoulder.

Maybe the exp required to level from 60 to 70 is significantly greater than expected? Together with socketing that would mean a new system of grading items that drop in the expansion.
