Any returning EQ1 players lose all their item charges?

I logged back in since my account is still in free trial mode for the progression server thing, and noticed that all of my items have 0 charges. Gauze press, shrink thing, and so on.

Then i noticed all of my 10 dose potions are at 0 charges, even though at 0 charges they should disappear. This includes my 10 dose gate potion, which was worth something like 7k back when i had it made.

I can't use the minimizer, and i handed it to an old friend who's got every expansion installed... 0 charges and unusable for her too.

I petitioned asking why every charge on my account would be wiped out and was told to do a thorough file check to update my UI.

I guess SoE hired ex blizzard gms.

(I had to thorough file check to run the game to begin with.)

Anyway. Anyone else had this happen? I hadn't played since shortly after GoD, but i logged in for a few minutes in january when accounts were activated again.

ROFL classic !!

This was a bug a really really long time ago. You were able to /petition the item and have it replaced wth a charged item back then. I am sure they will still do it on an old account. If you go to EQLive and search way back in the forums you might be able to find the bug posted there.

If its an item you can recharge like a gauss or a shrinking device id just blow it off, but if it was like a rare DA earing or something of that sort, I would keep petitioning over and over until they replaced it. They reppaced everyone elses, they should replace yours.

To be completely truthful though - it can be a UI error for that though, I'd imagine - I did some tinkering with my UI a bit before PoR launched when I started playing most recently and screwed up something that was showing all my charged items as having unlim charges and not updating them as used.

Really annoying, would start casts on stuff and then "rewind" on it midcast.

I'd try a different UI before blowing it off.

I reinstalled the entire game through SoE's own patcher during the promotional at the beginning of the year. Hell even back when i played i never downloaded any UI mods. I utterly forgot the EQ UI was even moddable until the gm told me not to do it.

It has to be the bug Aethn is talking about. Like I said, i gave it to a friend who still plays every day and the items were dead. I'll blow off my 10 charge lev potions, but if i start playing again, I'll definitely ask for the 10 charge gate potion back. That shit was fucking expensive.

I also had a 255 charge froglok illusion stone that got reset to 0, somehow i dont think that'll get replaced. heh.

edit: Another really annoying bug with charges, from a LONG time ago, was if you had a charged item hotkeyed to 6 on one bank, and you pressed 6 while in another hotkey bank, it would use the charged item's charges. really dumb bug, only found out weeks later when they fixed it how i'd lost several charged items charges.

I downloaded to log in and check. My illusion potions were fine, as was my shrinker.

Also, has EQ1s camera ALWAYS been this annoying? Looking back, I think most of my experience with this game was mental, as I seem to have turned my attention to the chat box more than the actual gameworld. The entire gameworld doesn't have the same feel as I remember. I think being able to run it at my ridiculous resolution exposes all the little tiny problems that I didn't see before. Weird. No way I could play it again though.
