Some tricks I use in pvp against stalkers are using flight and listening for build up. First off, a good portion of stalkers don't take flight, so if you stay flying or hovered in a pvp, they can't AS you (although they can still crit you while super jumping). If they do take hover however, you are screwed. Another thing I do in a pvp zone is keep the speaker volume up. I have never met a stalker that didn't do build up before they did AS to get the damage bonus. You might not be able to see them, but you sure can hear the whoosh sound of build up and get out of dodge.
A force field defender is nice from the standpoint that stalkers usually can't AS you if you have repulsion field up. The force field pushes them out of melee range. No stalker has been able to beat my ff defender.
The only stalker I fear as an invulnerability tanker is energy melee. Smash/lethal is a joke to me, what hits a squishie for 1100 only hits me for 110. Any non energy melee stalker is an annoyance, but energy melee makes me nervous. A friend of mine has shown me how he can kill anyone with impunity with a three hit combo (build up - AS - Energy Transfer - Total Focus). Even my inv tanker has been owned by this combo. Why they made this power set available to stalkers is beyond me, it is way overpowered.
