| [EVE Online] Second Capsuleer Alliance Tournament Quote:
If someone is interested to watch EVE PVP at its finest, now is a very good chance to watch it live with DJ and commentator coverage. Here is the tournament schedule: http://myeve.eve-online.com/events/a...matches=bydate Here is the two video stream links: UK: http://www.eve.is/evetv/EveTV_uk.asx USA: http://www.eve.is/evetv/EveTV_us.asx World: http://www.eve.is/evetv/EveTV.asx Eve Online site is heavily hammered ATM to prepare for the full television broadcast of the event. So prepare to be patient with the video streams. It's not everyday they make a full TV broadcast of very popular event for 100k+ subscriber base. Here is todays fights, all times in GMT. Quote:
Todays highlight matches will be for sure: 4 14/07/2006 16:00:00 Veritas Immortalis vs Band of Brothers Two top teams at very beginning. Can Light Darkness and his minions win against BNC / Reikoku? My money is on BoB's team but VI can surprise here. Both alliances have bottomless funds so it's going to be crystal implant fight, expecting to see CNR's or Rattlesnakes in this fight. 1 14/07/2006 15:00:00 The Five vs Dusk and Dawn Ex-ATUK aka. BOB's B-team against D2 posse - also very intresting match. I think D2 will win this one, but if ATUK team is same as last years tournament, we are going to see some very neat Rattlesnake action here. Those are the two matches I will be very interested to watch tonight.

| If WoW had anything like this the realm Forums would crash daily from the whining, Blizzard would have to hire hundreds of new GMs to fill every shift--who would be locked into a perpetual cycle of cheating/hacking investigations, the secondary market would explode, millions of subscribers would quit once they confront the reality that yes it's true, they're exactly the short of shitty players the hardcore have been telling them they are, and finally, the last deluded casual players would line up in front of Blizzard's Irvine office, douse themselves in gasoline, then immolate themselves in protest. |

| Simple way to implement it. Have a Ladder System between the realms on your "Cluster" that you cross-queue with for BGs. You can purchase a "team charter" for 100g. Your team can have up to 20 people. Every match you win or lose goes into a ladder rank system for your cluster, once stuff gets sorted out - have those top teams from each cluster battle it out, then select the top 10 from each cluster to participate in some closed server WSG event. Televise (web broadcast) this. Winners get titles or something else. Do this every 3 months. Omg. |

| Please don't fill another thread comparing two wildly diffirent games, made by two wildly diffirent companies, based on wildly diffirent technology and catering to wildly diffirent kinds of people? Discuss just EVE and leave WoW out of it. Please? |

Battleship Battlecruiser Cruiser Destroyer Frigate This year T2 ammo/missiles are not allowed, but the T2 unit itself is legal. Faction ammo & missiles are also legal. I'd expect the most common ships will be: Battleship: Rattlesnake, Caldari Navy Raven, Vindicator. Battlecruiser: Any of them, EOS most likely beign most popular. Cruiser: Vagabond, Eagle, Deimos, Ishtar are prolly the top choises. Destroyer: Sabre and Flycatcher Frigate: Wolf and Claw are going to be popular.

The biggest difference would be the type of players, though. The EVE event barely mentions nor dwells on the awards for winning. It's clear that the players are staking real value for their participation, not just time lost or some raid skipped. Those ships at stake represent MONTHS of real /played time that just evaporates when the ship is lost, permanent unrecoverable losses that would easily exceed the winnings. A better example would be a WoW cross-server tournament where characters who die lose ALL their equipped gear permanently. Last edited by Khorum : 07-14-2006 at 08:17 AM.

| Five vs Dusk and Dawn just ended, Five won. D2 sucked arse. Picture is very good but dark, I had to turn up gamma quite alot form Microsoft Media player, but then it started to look good. I think they are fixing the recording levels. This year seems that the commentator actually knows about PVP. (btw, fuck you all, this is about EVE, start a new thread for WoW)

| Well that was a one sided match, D² got raped. Vindicator is no match for the CNR. about 2B worth ship destroyed, considering the number of match in this tournament that's quite a LOT of money going down the drain on this tournament. Last edited by Gurgeh : 07-14-2006 at 08:15 AM. |

| Depends, CNR isn't I win button in this tournament, since it can be countered. D2's tactic was just arse. Awesome that they are brining ingame politics into the commentary also - looks like ok commentary team.

But yeah as the commantor just said, there's little a vindicator or megathron can do vs CNR (especialy with crystal implants) + Curse, the curse won't go down without the damage output of the battleship, and the Curse will have no problem staying out of blaster range. Getting 350mm Navy Megathron would not make much sense compared to a cruise / siege CNR.I wonder what was the gang mods loaded on the Claymore, I would guess Siege Warfare, that's an interesting choice, I had expected people to bring Vulture. Anyway CNR + Curse + Fleet Command was a nice team.
