The thing that ruined world pvp for me in the past were those lame fucking guards that spawned in droves.

The only way I'll do anything world pvp related ever again is if they calm down with a billion guards spawning.

The irony of choosing Silithus is that most PvP servers have had an unspoken truce in Silithus for months. With all the triggered mob spawns, faction/xp grinding and questing going on it has been more logical and reasonable to leave everyone to their own devices and not have constant, all-out pvp going on.

I was hoping for more creativity and some GOOD changes to the actual PvP system, not some crummy PvP gather quests... so far patch 1.12 is barely worth a server maintenance downtime let alone a full-blown patch.

Hay ma, another disapointing Blizzard patch, watch me gasp in shock.

So far, neither of their 1.12 sneak peeks have gone too well.

Not that I expect them to stray from The Vision MKII(tm) (which happens to be a bunch of dollarsigns) I'm just pointing it out.

EDIT: Of course, it's after I make this post I see they took a "Second Glimpse" at the Rogue review...

They can salvage all mistakes made with the PvP system to date with a Honor System revamp that makes sense.

I'm hoping they have it waiting and are just holding out on previewing it..

So far, this vaunted "World PVP revamp" is one of the worst things I've seen out of Blizzard in it's entire duration of existance. Collection quest? Tap the flag? Damage bonus against the un-fuck-dead for doing PVP? How in all that is sensible does this shit get past their Quality Assurance department? Oh, wait, I'm sure they don't even fucking have one for pvp. To apply a genius quote to the situation, this is how the dumb ass idea came about in their Headquarters. Tigole stood up and shouted "I GOT A SHITTY IDEA!" and Furor rose up beside him and said "And I can make it shittier!"

In short, this is the 'Meeting Stones' of PVP. Good fucking game, I can't wait to not bother with this shit. Just make civilians unattackable and take DK's out of the game and let us make our fun, you idiots.

I still think an "EXP loss on PvP death" server would be cool. If it is hard to make PvP interesting using rewards, make it interesting by penalties. Not for everyone, I understand, but I'd play it. At least would make World PvP more "meaningful."

Sullon Zek has xp loss on death. Net result: Server full of grieftastic retards (and by 'full' I mean a couple of hundred players in prime time).
WoW has very, very minimal pvp death penalties (i.e. just time lost). Net result: The concept of PvP in MMOGs is reinvigorated.

Guess which one is the viable model?

Still not sold on this.

The EP one sounds, ok... But i still see people just walking up and waiting till the oppurtune time to pvp flag and gank you.

I hope thats nto the case, but thats what I brought from it.

These of course will work a lot better on full pvp servers.

Hopefully they keep with this route, but add a new zone that instantly pvp flags you with these objectives (non instanced as well, like the main cities).

Maybe even go so far as to adding major cities that are built JUST to be pvp'd in, so we can do the whole conquering cities thing w/o disturbing PvE'rs questing.. whatever.

Hell, I can see the gated off zone line in Stormwind leading to the part of the city that is under siege by horde, so you zone in (not capped by # of players, zone in / out at your leisure) and defend stormwind. Etc.. ~

You can't compare PvP models like that. It's similar to saying Shadowbane's model didn't work when one of the other, major reasons was the sb.exe error, not the PvP.

Sullon Zek failed because EQ PvP was entirely too gear oriented and in PoP and Luclin it was incredibly easy to cockblock people.

I DO agree that one reason PvP WoW servers outnumber PvE is the lack of a serious penalty to death, though.

Blue response on the PvP forum. CM so, whatever...

For instance, changes to honor would affect everyone. A World PvP goal in Outland will only be accessible to those that have bought the expansion.

The curve adjustment is just a temporary thing to alleviate a bit of the 'grind' but is not THE solution at this time.

I don't know any specifics in regard to what new items may be introduced or what ranks (if any are to be added on) at this time.

By World PvP we mean specific PvP triggering goals will be put into certain zones for people to participate in should they choose. I'm told we'll be releasing more information on all of this in the next couple of weeks.
So, honor grind staying, maybe it'll make it a little easier to hit Grand Marshal on my new server, but I was at standing 5 last week and we insitituted a cap, so not too worried..still...

Honor staying in hurts these new PvP zones.

What the fuck do these guys talk about at dev meetings? Is the honor system the Giant Squid at the table that everyone refuses to talk about? After a year of VERY angry people, mind crushing grinding, and obvious flaws they STILL can't make up their mind on what to do... or even IF they should do anything about it at all?

YOU LOSE. GOOD DAY SIR.

I just noticed that blue response was dated 07/03/06 (gg me). Still, I'd think it's valid, but, have to point that out to be fair.
