+14 Internets | The real question is: How long til we see socketed items that raiders actually give a shit about? Wasnt Naxx supposed to have a couple socketed items, or did they just abandon that plan?

| This is pretty much identical to augments, with the exception of there not having been a tradeskill to make augments with in EQ. On the other side, it will be unlikely raiders will give a damn about jewelcraftings as soon as raid-bosses start dropping 'stones of power', so then it would be identical to EQ in every way. I also hope items with sockets won't be the redheaded stepchild of items like they were in Diablo 2. Even the eventuel introduction of runewords didn't change that much. |

+23 Internets | Some of the best augs in EQ are made with tradeskills. Are the socketed stuff going to be strictly from jewelcraft or can just straight up socketable items actually drop? Anyone know? |

+5 Internets | Sounds like the items that hold the gems (i.e. the sockets) are mostly made by tradeskillers, and some off of mobs. The gems themselves are mostly made by jewelcrafters of course, with some of the nicer ones drop off of bosses... which I /sigh at. ZG style enchants are bad enough, now we have to jump through hoops to get gems too? I hate ZG style enchants and shit because it makes an 'upgrade' not an upgrade. I've passed over a lot of head and legs slot items that were technically upgrades, because its to hard to get the enchant on them. Since I have an enchant on my T2, it takes a seriously great item to be worth upgrading too, if you don't have an enchant. |

Socketed stuff seems like a reasonable direction for Blizzard to go in, would allow them to further scale things up without just sitting there making items with +50 stats

| Heh so I made the same mistake twice in the same thread? Nice. At least, that's assuming you can tell me what Blizzard changed about socketable stuff to make it more worthwile than what it started out as. |
