| Blizzard buy a new installer This installer Blizzard has is shit, i've been trying to reinstall the damn game over 2 days from 2 seperate copies I have on CD, and it still wont install. Half the time it will get through 50% and freeze and the other half of time it bottoms out and said ??? file is corrupt with no explanation of what file is corrupt. The one time i managed to get the fucking thing installed it barfed at the patch, told me it was corrupt and suggested I reinstall. |

+18 Internets | I bought the CE from Blizzard day one. The DVD to install the game failed, so I tried the CDs. The CDs failed so I retried the DVD, it worked the second time. Later I had to reinstall WoW, so I tried the same thing, no luck. I had to copy over a previous install from another PC that used a non-CE version. Since then that version has been copied to a third PC, copied from that PC to the second, then copied back to mine another time. I would consider it a likely catastrophe if I had to re-install WoW. Oh, and your downloaders suck too. Release the torrent for your patches and be done with it. Let the rubes that can't use BT get it from your downloader.

| I made a DVD copy of my CE DVD. I think I've touched my original DVD once in it's lifetime. I also have it copied to my HDD for any reasons, you should probably do the same. HDD sizes these days are obscene so it's not a big deal.

| Beside the fact it takes forever to extract and copy the files, I never had any problem with this installer. Maybe a problem with your CD/DVD drive? A problem only with WoW (or other games you never installed from a DVD), that is.

+2 Internets | Cooling, cooling and more cooling!!! Installing WoW is a RAM intensive exercise. When the game launched, myself and many other folks were getting the same issue you are, where the install fails at totally random points, files get corrupted, blah blah blah. A few of the more intrepid folks figured that shizzle out, and it is a matter of keeping your RAM nice and frosty. I installed heatsink clips to my memsticks, added 2 case fans, blew out the box with compressed air (overkill) and changed one fans direction so I created a wind tunnel effect over the board. Then I installed WoW with no sweat, and never had another problem with that game. once again, for the cheap seats - Cooling, cooling and more cooling!!!

+18 Internets | Hmm.... my CD-drive is corrupted, my ram is too hot.... I bet the next suggestion for why there are epidemic problems with the installer is that we need to delete our interface folder.

| Just download the installer from Fileplanet. Sure they suck monkey testicles, but I downloaded it on cable at ~380k/sec and it took all of two hours or so? I set it to go while I went to work, logged in remotely and installed it and it was updated and everything when I got home. |

| Haha, hot ram? How about people that already have done shit you mentioned(two case fans near cpu, opposite directions, and 1 intake near bottom), and a heatspreaders on the ram...but still have problems? And why not any other installs?

| Hot RAM and flaky DVD drives my arse. Blizzard are too fucking contrarywise to spend a couple of hundred dollars for a license of Winzip / InstallAnywhere and insist on coding their own piece of shit installer. By doing so they can ensure the installs will take 5 times longer than other games and still save themselves the 10 cents it would cost to press an extra CD. The patcher suffers from the exact same shit fucking implemetation that pisses off all your customers. |
