Was browsing around an old forums I used to look at when I played EQ on Brell and found a thread I found pretty interesting. A topic here about cheating that went on. That got me interested so I googled around a bit and found some MQ junk, a few ShowEQ things.. and then stumbled on this gem. I can only imagine the field day some people would have with that. Kill anything? Zone anywhere no matter what flags or keys? Macro a character to 70 in a week then fully raid equip him and sellf on ebay? I think yes.

Anyways.. I was never a big EQ cheater myself. Just a few MQ things here to get my tradeskills up, or show the map to me and list spawns and junk while removing anon and roleplay from people. I really wish I knew about this shit when I still had an account with a reasonable level character so I could mess around with some of it.

I never used MQ, and the second time I quit EQ was after I discovered that 90% of my guild's officers were using it to do tradeskills, to transfer nodrop items to their alts and in one case to warp across zones to skip content. Most also used ShowEQ to find mobs.

EDIT: Someone please tell me those MQ plugins don't work. Reading the link made me think (hope) that they don't.

Yes, I have ads on and it's for the same reason I have LFG channel on, curiousity!

...although LFG channel seems to be working really well on my server.

And when stuff like this happens (selling hacks to the public), sony goes on a banning spree to scare people out of using it.

Generally tho, KenetixEQ is despised by pretty much all of the informed eq hackers, so i'm told. That guy that runs the site makes a hacking community, then steals people's submissions and sells them for profit.

That stuff works - and it gets you banned pretty damn quickly.

Bumped into one person using that sort of nonsense on Sleeper already - within 3 hrs of my petition they caught the joker using it again and he was banned - and his guild disbanded. [I presume the latter being b/c of discussing it in /gu since a guildee of theirs had mentioned it was an occasional topic in a tell after I chewed them out for warping pre-petition]

That ghost shit.. why would you need it on sleeper, solo pod? Anyway yeah those work, however I thought sony more or less "fixed" the ghosting shit a while ago, but I guess they figured out a new way. I think it all stems from the way stun works in-game.

Back in the day tho, they used to have the equip hack to put any item into any slot... I heard some ran around in full mage summon gear (the +600 hp or whatever it was).

ITs not fake. I knew people that used to do that shit. They got banned hell of fast. once some stupid chanter that didnt have a guild running around in full tacvi /anguish gear and was not even in a guild. Went around showing off her epic 2.0 orb.

Then they upped the requirements to get raid tasks/missions.

I was also told there is something in everquest that detects if people are using showeq or macroquest.

If you see someone using it report them. Gm's can tell pretty damn fast if they are using it or have used it.

If there is, it doesn't work very well.

There are, however, checks in place to detect things like warping, items in wrong slots, speed changes, etc.
