+1 Internets | I haven't played in forever but I'm taking a break from WoW so I might reactivate. What are mayhem missions and why are people raving about them? I was kind of dissapointed with CoV because I didn't feel very villanous and people were saying this fixes it somewhat. |

| Mayhem missions are the new style of bank heists. They drop your villain off in a segment of the Paragon Isles (Atlas, King's, Skyway, ..., Peregrine) and you start with 15 minutes. You can destroy a whole lot of landscape, from cardboard boxes and trash cans to bus stops and trucks, and you get time bonuses from the destruction. A few designated enemies in the zones drop either clues or keys which unlock side quests, for kidnappings, Arsons, more thefts, etc. Once you buckle down and decide to do the bank you get ambushed after you take the goods by random heroes, anyone from lowly little Lts to people like Valkyrie and Manticore, depending on the mission and your team size. These things are a whole lot of fun. I love the idea of (non-mandatory) side missions within a mission. |

| Here's the official explanation of Mayhem Missions. To summarize though, you get a mission (through the newspapers) that sends you to one of the CoH city zones (depends on the level of the mission.) On the mission maps, pretty much everything is destroyable - cars, street lights, garbage cans, fire hydrants, etc. (Not buildings though.) The goal of the mission is to rob the bank and defeat the boss that ambushes you at the end. However, the mission starts with only 15mins to do so. You can "earn" time by doing various things. Destroying items is one of these. For example, a telephone booth you destroy might extend your time by 15 secs. The big time extensions come from completing the side quests within the mission. Capturing someone can extend it by 8 minutes. These side quests also can give alternate rewards as well. Some just give good enhancements, while others can reward temp powers or even an NPC to assist you. Completing the mission will also give you a temp power (the one I did gave 2 hours of usable SuperJump.) In my opinion, the missions are great fun. My only complaint about them is that they are very light on story and can only be gotten through newspaper missions. |
