Global LFG channel -- What the deuce

What the hell was Blizzard thinking making LookingForGroup a global channel? Seriously, worst idea ever. To those of you in large guilds this is mostly a non-issue since you can usually cobble together a group from friends and guildies. But holy crap barrens chat everywhere I go is GAY. Is there some coding issue that prevents adding in a /lfg command like /dnd and /afk? Then make the folks with /lfg on /who-able?

So, leave it? I must admit, I and several others were stirring the pot a little in /LFG!!~ tonight but it won't last. Eventually it might even serve some similar purpose to a simple lfg system, although with more suckage.

Seriously though, what was to be expected from a global chat channel?

City of Heroes had the best LFG system.

Click button, poof! You are now LFG.

Click button, poof! You can search all LFG people and see their name, level, class, and both the characters primary and secondary powersets.

EQ's worked pretty damn well too. Name, class, level, "notes" and so on. The main thing though was most of the time the "Name" part actually meant something to you.

First off, Ya where the hell is a /lfg that /who checks can find? Christ Blizzard its one of the most basic things.

Secondly global lfg with no built in filters is about as stupid as meeting stones. Would it have been so hard to section the lfg chats by level or limit how often a character can chat in it(once per minute would be enough to stop most spam) and limit charcters per line so there are epoc posts from one person? God damn you people make the simple stuff the hardest.

And shut up about leaving it. Not everyone has a huge list of friends and guild that they can access at any time of the day so lfg becomes a necessary evil.

Join the channel when you want a group, get one, leave it. Personally I'd rather deal with a spammy channel for 5 minutes than individually ask every level 60 LFG healer whether they're looking for a specific dungeon. This isn't EQ where people would group almost anywhere, most are looking for only one place and thats why a /lfg flag would be crap.

Except EQ's LFG system had a notes section. Also, when I'm LFG it's usually longer than five minutes. And fuck you, Northerner.

While I think most of the Chuck Norris/General retard spamination in the /lfg channel will die down once the kids get bored with their global mic, I'm all for a /lfg system like EQs or CoH (which was the best, imo.) It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to implement. Shit, make it something like the Hearthstone called the "Meeting Stone" that you can click on to access all of the /lfg entries, or a tab you can click or anything other then the global /flg channel.

I logged on last night and couldn't even talk to my guild with all of the /lfg spam. I plan on doing what Neppy suggested and only join the channel when I am, in fact, /lfg.

/leave 4 should have taken you all of 20 seconds to do after logging in for the first time. Easy fix.

Well, now that the sacred cow of the retard rocks has been slaughtered (via global /lfg) there's nothing stopping Blizzard introducing a decent lfg system a la EQ/CoH/whatever.

Spammy LFG Channel you can chose to stay or leave > perma-tetherered to a city

I would rather they put in a real LFG system than just a channel, but even this allows me and many others to leave the city and actually do something while lfg (faction grinding, money grinding, questing, helping noobs, world pvp) than sitting in the city on my ass.

People fail to realize that it's now almost impossible get groups actually using LFG with so much useless spam. Which sucks a fucking lot for someone leveling a new character like me.

At the very least they should restrict it by continent.
