What makes a game innovative is how they use already existing ideas to create something new. Half Life really wasn't that different from previous games. There were games before that focused on story, the guns were pretty basic, multiplayer had been done before. It was still an innovative game though, because, when you put all those systems together, it didn't play like anything I played before.

+38 Internets | And I'd just like to say screening of player created content already occurs at the community level in many games. Already in RTS's and FPS's, the community plays on the popular maps that are quality, and leaves Little Timmys "THIS IS MY FIRST DEATHMATCH ENJOY LOL" maps by the wayside quickly. |

| How good that screening is depends on the community. Warcraft III, for example... Well, let's just say that aside from DoTA (which I agree with), the most popular maps seem to range from juvenile humor to copyright violation. |

Regardless, if they manage anything close to what they claim, it'll certainly be a breath of fresh air compared to existing MMOs. But we all know what happened to Horizons...

I also read "could have changed" that the single player part would be free and you would not pay until you hit lvl 20 and joined the MMO game

| Anarchy Online had flying mounts first - the Yalmaha. Built into the game at release, and minus combat, they had everything you wanted in flight capable vehicles. Total 3D movement, serious speed buff, hovering, and they looked pretty cool. The WoW/EQ2 griffon system is nothing more than an elaborate teleport system. So if Vanguard or any other game wants to say they have even 2nd Gen flying mounts, they better have all of AO's Yalm capabilities, and include better flight graphics and combat abilities, else it is just a griffon wrapper over the Yalmaha for originality's sake.
