He's not talking about new employees, though. He's talking about the three designers who left SOE to go with McQuaid to create Vanguard. If they didn't have a contract from the beginning with Sigil, or paid to do any work, then legally any work done belongs to the person who created it.

It's like saying you and your friend quit the band you're currently in to form your own. You sit in a garage and bang out creations of music for months with no income, including rehearsing songs you made on your own last year. Then one day you finally get around to giving the new band a name and putting the terms on paper from that point only. You leave the band the following month. Do you own the songs you created before you made the company? Sure you do. Unless you specifically gave them up during the contract negotiations while forming the company, but who would do that?

Those two led the most predominate guilds in EQ. That's a far cry more than playing Atari games as a kid, loving super mario brothers, or getting hired afterplaying half an hour of SWG.

I've never worked on a game in my life and I know I could write up an amazing story arch for an mmo, or based off my experience in gaming I could design a hot sauce encounter.

That struck me as odd, too. I assumed from many threads I've read, Vanguard fans don't take too much of a liking to World of Warcraft. I wonder how the repeated comparisons to WoW from McQuaid went over with his testers/fans? It sounds like it may suggest an interesting turning point, at least for the beginning of the game.

Doom 3 is awesome, and playing through is worth it over WoW. Go ahead with continuing this line of trying to state, as fact, what I like and what I don't like. All the other 5 man dungeons? Dire Maul? Maraudon? The latter doesn't count for shit at 60 and the former is a few nights of farming at best. They're fine dungeons, but all of their efforts have since gone into the raid game. And how the fuck does a 20 man dungeon not count as a raid game? Christ, AQ and ZG are harder in my experience than MC and provide for an inferior volume/quality of loot.

This may have already been addressed but I'm too lazy to read this huge ass thread.

One of the big criticisms that's been raised is the lack of testers. I can't comment on what motivates those who aren't logging in, but at least some of us aren't playing because we fucking can't.

Currently the system is bugged so that if you download the beta client (only available from fucking retarded Fileplanet), and then at any point you lose the cookie from that session, such as from a reformat or reinstall or something, YOU CANNOT EVER DOWNLOAD THE CLIENT AGAIN. It will not let you go to the page. This is a known issue and Sigil says there is "no ETA at this time for a resolution."

WTF. You can fucking code an MMO but you can't host a goddamn file for people to download. New episodes of most TV shows can be on my hard drive ten minutes after they air via BitTorrent (you know, assuming I used it for that sort of thing...), but for whatever-the-fuck reason an actual gaming company with SOE backing them (and Microsoft before that) can't either control the hosting for their own client or at least find someone not totally incompetent to do it for them.

Goddamn ridiculous.

I've been posting like this for a few months now. I haven't gone back and forth with Ut for a few weeks. Do you think I would if I thought that merely egged him on further? No, he'll post as much with or without me. No one else is willing to stand up for Sigil, and I respect them enough to do so. I realize that at the end of the day that this place is entertainment, more than anything. People who weren't raiders didn't come here because Furor had his anti sony crusade, they did because he was very entertaining. I'm nothing to him, but I have fun more than anything when I post here. I'm not getting frustrated, angry or any such rubbish. The moment this stops being enjoyable for me it ends for me, but since I enjoy writing so much...you get the idea.
