+2 Internets | I don't know - long, irregular hours with underscale pay for the relative job requirements, combined with an utterly rabid fanbase willing to chew off your leg if the one thing you've been working on for five years doesn't live up to their every expectation, and when it is finally released you have to deal with thousands of very bright people focusing entirely too much brainpower on dissecting, bending, exploiting, and otherwise tormenting the thing you worked so hard on, then complaining when they run out of things to do with it? Sounds like a job for a masochist to me.

I feel bad for developers these days. They have to answer to dipshits who have NO clue what it is like to make a game, what would be fun, and what is expected - by some shitbag Ex Nike exec that is clueless, looks at an excel spreadsheet, and determines what will sell. After reading what EA was capable of in how they treated their designers, fuck that. EA should be lynched. Developers need someone that looks out for them as employees, because I sure as shitfire guarantee you those fucking publishers are making money hands over fist.

| Utnayan - you've said nothing unique to the game industry there. All employees of all companies do stupid things at work and their companies go in stupid directions due to short-term thinking by executives (or simply valuing money over quality product). The game industry is afflicted by this as well and it is very apparent to us since it's our hobby, but it's certainly not unique to that industry. |

I love how the whole EA thing is such an atrocity, I have been working as a Framer/Carpenter/Finishing wood worker, for the past 10 years. The whole EA thing is pretty tame compared to the treament I recieved from some of my past employeers. No one really gives a shit about tradesfolk though, as we are all apperently in-bred morons who only do this stuff cause we dropped out of high school or are ex-cons or some other such BS. Happens to someone who went to college for X number of years and everyone flips out. Happens to a guy that spent an equal amount of time doing hard labour to learn his trade and everyone just shrugs it off. | |

+6 Internets | This was humorous, but I wish something like this would be much more...eloquent.
