| I know a number of tradespeople that seem to make pretty damn good cash and don't get fucked half as badly as a some developers do. Everyone is biased of course but I can think of two ex-IT guys (both with degrees) who gave that shit up for welding and oilsands work respectively. Neither seem to mind the 12 hour days when you are actually getting paid for them. Not saying that the grass is greener, just that everyone gets screwed one way or the other. |

| It was hidden in a made-up language that (I don't think) the creators ever released keys to. Amateur cryptographers deciphered it. Those dudes who actually enjoy to do the cryptquotes in the comics. Those dudes who thought 11th Hour was better than the origional. Used to be I would have argued with my last breath against people like that existing, but then I met one. Given all that personally I think it's just funny. Nothing about it strikes me as unprofessional. 99.9% of the people who look at those things are never going to "get the joke". It wouldn't even occur to 99.8% of the people who look at those things that there's a joke to be got. |

Some of you faggots really do not have a clue who really is in charge of some of the games that get a green light or get fucked in the ass. I am surprised Gryphe, my new little puppy trailing me around the forum now, didn't throw it in 50 point bold font to boot. Wake the fuck up kids. Because that quote, in a lot of gaming companies at the moment, is unfortunately true. You have people without any game design experience in charge of production schedules. You have people without any game design experience in charge of what will get the go ahead for development and what won't. Basically, you have upper management who come from completely different industries and do not understand one cotton picking thing about game development, the market, or anything else - with their Masters degrees in Business Administration with a concentration in Masterbation - and have little to no common sense about what will really sell a game, what developmental ideas should go into a game, and how to treat their employees. Gathering of Developers tried to improve upon it, and unfortunately they had a hard time. Either way, game workers who are behind the development need someone to back their ass one of these days before people that make really good games say fuck it and move on into developing GPS software.

And especially the finishing woodwork. They had very extensive detail work done (14' carved doors, etc), and the artistry and perfection it takes to do that is indeed a talent and not something that I think I could *ever* learn. I'm lucky to cut a piece of wood using a straight edge and a jig saw.
