| I am most likely going to start up a new AO account and upgrade to all the expansions for 10 bucks. That is just a steal in my opinion. I've played AO on and off for years now, and everytime I quit about a month later I find myself coming back to it. I don't know why but I really love the early levels .. I have had 5 Martial Artists that I have leveled up past 150. The MA class just kicks total ass and is a blast to level up with. And who the hell thinks funcom 'dropped the ball' on pvp? Have you even bothered to engage in a tower battle? Fucking hell that shit was so fun. ToTw here I come!

I've had an atrox, 2 soli and 2 opi MA's. I went different paths for all of them. Trox was more of a tank MA, soli's were both inbetweeners using no weaps and the 2 opi's went for damage with different weapons. I would usually start up a new account, play my MA for 2-3 months casually then just pack up the account and sell it when I started to get bored. It has been a viscious cycle like that for years now. I dunno, it doesn't really bother me starting out fresh and leveling back up again. I would just pop on ebay and find the shadowlands game for like 5.99 and buy it and use the serial to open a new account. 5.99 for 3 expansions and a free month? Could never go wrong. I dunno, it keeps me occupied I suppose.

| 200 levels from original AO, then 20 extra shadowlevels from shadowlands, and I believe 20 alien levels? Never really got into AI/haven't played much of it. The 20 AI levels I believe are not like normal levels or shadowlevels.. more like an AA point type shit I think. So 220 or so max level. With additional 20 AI levels that can be spent like perks (AA type thing you get as you level up). The best thing about AO is that everyday you played you felt like you accomplished something. With a decent group and 1-2 hours there was no real reason you didn't gain atleast 1, if not a couple levels..

| It should be mentioned that even though it sounds wierd that some of us have levelled the same class a bunch of times, the SP system makes it very open-ended as far as how your character plays. Like Khanibal said, you can play a MA as Tank, Melee Weapon DPS, Fist DPS. It sounds a lot like other games, but the way AO works, the builds play completely different from each other. |

Eventually, once the whole company is reduced to a stack of dusty books they'll wake up and see how Blizzard became a gaming juggernaut by "borrowing" their IP. Last edited by Weritech; 05-31-2006 at 03:02 PM.. | |

+1 Internets | What, people didn't like hecklers ? :P What about.. -The shadowland faction grinds and the related key and access quests. -Expansions being released half finished (again, shadowlands). -Locking up whenever an alien raid started when you were with more then 15 people. That expasnion was the final drop for most, leaving for Eq2 or WoW. -Atleast the heckler grind used to net some money, but then they nerfed platinum ingots ![]() -The worst class imbalance ever. Funcom made a habit of totally buffing one class, and then completely destroying others. Not to mention things started to go downhill fast with the SL perk system. -Raidbots - while they did make the highend game 'accessable' to many more, it did kill off alot of guilds due to doing so. The accomplishment of doing things as a guild can never be 'replaced' by some kind of raidbot with nothing but strangers. -Beast monopoly raidbots often achieved. High end content wasn't instanced. Hence a raidbot which has access to alot more people then a high end guild (usually) was able to gain control over it. -Too few IPR. -Hours of merc camp spawning. -Each new patch broke atleast 10 other things. (Making mobs invulnerable, weapons only crit, reload bug!) -Lifebringers in Lush fields. etc Actual fun stuff: -Notum wars (When it didn't crash) -PVP was fun in general untill they started capping it. (5 lvl 75's taking down a 200 was priceless). -The mobs with set spawntimes were somewhat amusing, alot better then the "random" stuff in WoW. Nugget, Kelly and ofcourse Tarasque ![]() -Low end game is excellent. -Pand/Zodiacs/Beast, was when I quit the only 'working' high end content, and was actually quite fun to do. -There used to be plenty of RP options if you're into that. The story events were nice untill the gms got fired. -Epicine! the pink mohawk atrox. -Relatively mature community, which had A++ drama. -Leet pets. -Twinking -Support was alot better then it is in WoW. -Player build cities. -Clicksaver -Skill/point based system. Alot of costumization options (untill you run out of reset points). etc Is it a game worth going back to? Not for me, I've played it for 3 years, while it has good points, it has many more bad ones. Plus I've pretty much lost my confidence in FC properly fixing Ao. Alot of the mechanics are hold together by bandages, change one, you break 20 others. Furthermore most of the people I used to play with have quit as well, so I doubt it'll ever happen ![]() However if you have a few friends playing it, are bored, no other mmo to play, it's worth checking out. The low end part of the game is _very_ well done and is alot of fun most of the time. -G

| I had a trader that I got to 150 on a trader, and had a load of fun. They were so overpowered at the start of the game, but no one realized it. I also had a nanomage enforcer which was interesting until I got level 200 gear equipped then it started going down hill quickly.

| I really wish they would make a "classic" ao sever like before Notum wars and Shadowlands. No mmo will own as much as AO did back in the days, atleast for me seeing as it was the first mmo i played. I really like the twinking part of the game. Not to mention the fucking cool events they started. I remember i ran into a GM Event character in Tir, and he asked if i wanted to earn a few credits. We had to kill x y z event characters which were other players that worked for Funcom. The cool part is i needed around 40 people from the guild to take them down (spawning jugganaughts and such, They once spawned about 150 Omni-Pol Guards on us.) And when we had to kill the last guy in a special mission that the gm would spawn a key for. ahh these were events they were the best =D And the forums would be flooded. I remember our guild got alot of heat from the other guilds due us getting event items. and then in the end funcom fired half the event gms, and the whole roleplaying part that really OWNED went to hell. Wtb classic ao ;( oldschool Tara runs

| AO was a cool game, I played it off and on for 2 yrs or so. They had cool ideas and the sci-fi was definitely more appealing than fantasy. Its too bad the game was unfinished and buggy POS and never took off. I might start up an engineer next, or maybe MP, I never played the pet classes. Or maybe a trader...
