thread over, no further interest in arguing with a Koster/SWG fanboy, next you'll be trying to tell me that fucking Daikatana was a great game.

My point is you're all morons for saying he shouldn't write a book about game design, when, all he has done is design successful games. Sorry you didn't like them!

| Since this thread is already on the way to SWG bashing: Pre-CU SWG was not *that* bad. I have many good memories from the game and I had a lot of fun while I played. Surfing the market for low cost mats, making buff packs and selling the buffs was enjoyable. Running around doing monotonous missions for credits was fun (especially when you were doing the hologrind and would be using a different class every week or two). The retardedness of making a statement like "No, SWG was pretty much straight-up awful" is right up there with using the word "retardedness." |

Here's a hint, George Lucas could slap the Star Wars name on a box full of elephant shit and it would sell. Quote:

| Who the hell do you think you are? You think you're so special that YOU get to save the GALAXY when HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS (if not millions) of other people want to do the same? Bueller? Bueller? You want to save the galaxy, go play fucking Jedi Knight or KOTOR. You want to live in the Star Wars Galaxy, be content with your Redshirt role. I am, and that's why I enjoyed my time in SWG. |

| Oh come on, these are MMORPG's we're talking about. Monotony *can* be fun when you have that carrot dangling in front of you. I am most certainly not the only one who enjoys sitting down and slaughtering a camp of Satyrs 6 times over to ding 52 and get your new spells/weapons/etc. It gets old after a while, yes; but the fact remains it started out being an enjoyable experience. |

Oh, and I'd never play a game made by Ralph Koster, but different strokes I suppose.

Remember, Romero was fired by Carmack. Carmack is semi-autistic and doesn't even enjoy video games that much (unlike Romero, who has a deep passion for them). He ends a lot of sentences with a mechanical hum. In my opinion, he's not quite right in the head. But it's really stupid for some random forum surfer to put down one of the greatest game developers of all time simply because he was the figurehead of the Daikatana team. You probably know nothing about him and his involvement in creating games. I think Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, said it best when talking about Doom3: "If they're going to do DOOM then they should bring back John Romero and Tom Hall. Those were the main guys behind the design of DOOM. They were the soul of DOOM. id needs to get back to making games with more soul."
