Bah. No rubicite, manastones, un-nerfed jboots. Etc. What's the point if you can't get stuff that's unavailable on the current servers?

So wait..now we have to beta test this server. Get char wiped, to do it all again? This is going to kill any desire most people have to play on the real server.

I imagine, if they do this like expansion beta tests, they will take a raid full of buffed players and test each "gateway" mob, to ensure that the opening scripts work, etc. I don't imagine everyone will have to level up, as the beta would take many months to actually test anything.

the other thing they will be checking is item strength...so that they can make modifications as needed to items so as to not overpower the 1-50 game with stuff they added in later that was more powerful.

Dont forget they are adding population caps and login ques to the server. Yes, thats right, they are capping the population and making you que if its full.

Also, the DEVs clearly stated that if one guild dominated and rushed to open content they would artificially block them and anyone else from triggering the next expansions to quickly.

Welcome to Social Welfare EQ server, were everyone gets to be equal before anyone can move on.

Yeah, the population cap is already leaning me toward not even creating a character on this server. I would imagine that a cap/queue would be gone after a week or two. They should just make a couple of these servers, for fuck's sake.

I don't understand what's so hard about making 4 servers at first, merging to 2 after a week, then merging to 1 after another. Something like that.

they have to cap it to a certain extent, because if they all of a sudden get way too many people the server just wouldn't be playable. And they don't want to have another tallon/vallon zek situation where the server was crazy busy so they made a second one...then like a week later everyone realized it sucked and left and you ended up with two low pop servers

Well isn't that cute, although in a sense you could say they have always done that! So yeah, have fun guys, sounds as if this is becoming more and more like the pristine EQ experience revisited that you have all been clamoring for.

Read a post today on everquestlive where a dev said that they were discussing the idea of opening more than one server as an alternative to queues.

Any news on if they were considering opening a non-EQ server?

The point is to limit HACKING and other illegitimate ways of advancing - are you dense?

Rashere even made a quote that the "limit" to expansion unlocks would be 2 weeks to a month.

How many expansions do you think even the most hardcore people could beat - counting leveling time and gearing up - to beat in 2-4 weeks legit?

Maybe Velious, depending on if the Ring War/AoW/ST is part of it.

Probably LoY, maybe LDoN.

So 3 expansions this will effect assuming there's no one trying to hack "gateway" mobs in some way... boo fucking hoo.
