Personaly I like this. I always hated how small a role the gods played in EQ in terms of character customization.

Well, Drizzt is like one of those annoying jackasses you see in RPGs all the time, like of teenager filled with angst at the world and more powerful than most gods. God that kinda character annoyed me... I did a bit of RPing my darkelf in EQ but I was just a mischevious prankster (agnostic since that was my only other choice) I would have much prefered somebody like bristlebane. (casually, I could slip into character and back out in the same sentance)

Crummy RPers don't know how to do more than a stereotypical charactor whos parents were killed by so and so when they were little and have a vendetta thing going on against a nebulous antagonist or their race/family because of differing viewpoint or rightousness.

Salvatore permanently ghey-ified what was one of D&D's best evil creations. Then again, Salavatore's books in general indicate that he dreams of cock. Back on topic - I just hope that someday an evil character, like a dark elf, can gain actual rewards from killing every goodly creature they set eyes on. It always pissed me off that high elves got props from Tunare for killing dark elves, but Innoruuk still tried to kill me after I leveled to 60 on a steady diet of anything good that had a pulse. I killed so many asslings, light elves, druids and rangers in EQ that I should have had my own house on the Plane of Hate.

In the wake of GTA and its get I don't see why more games can't have compelling storylines for evil characters. The one that pissed me off the most was Shadows of Undrentide. At the least minute Bioware was forced by the faggots at Hasbro to pull tons of evil-based content. Remember the baby you could loot from the kobold and then refuse to give back to its mother? You were supposed to be able to sell it to the slaver from Thay.

Anyway. Heres to hoping they do the Gods right this time. Actually make deity selection matter beyond newb quests and tradeskilled curiosities.

That would be fantastic. Add the various religions as societies for whom you can perform quests and gain rep. Diversify the populace. I would like as much Innoruuk-related content as possible, please. Antonican History X, motherfuckers.

There should have been vendors and NPCs on the Plane of Hate where all us loyal followers of Innoruuk could go hang with. I should have been able to roam freely in the Plane of Hate, chillin' with my homeyz. I mean, I got max Di'Zok faction just by grinding levels in Nurga, but I was always KOS in Hate. That honestly used to chap my ass. If there are factions to grind, there should be some reward for doing so, like gaining the DiZok faction for the quests there.

I also thought EQ kind failed to utilise it's own diety lore. I'd always expected them to make reference to bertox up to no good, but he apparently never was. atleast not on the same scale as the other big 4 evils (cazic, rallos, innoruk, bert). I know they touched upon more of the gods in PoP, but they should have utilized more it all the way from launch. Ofcourse i've always felt PoP and the older planes (complete with gods you could kill) were hokey to begin with.

That doesn't necessarily mean the gods are returning. People can join cults and happily worship away without any divine manifestations popping up and saying Hi Thar! Special accoutrements of the faith, special benedictions or skills taught to the faithful.

Of course, it IS eq. the gods are returning with their phat lewtz /grumble. Here's to hoping you can't actually attack your own deity.

I hope they come back... to help us do battle! We can get these little balls, each marked with a god. And you throw them into battle, and out from the ball pops whoever your god is. He does something with a lengthy 20-40 minute presentation of his badassness, and then leaves to be used again the next gameday! So awesome....
