And also the "original" TF was a very bad mistake in itemization. It's still a bit bad but not as much at least. Not wanting to repeat the same mistake again is fine with me.

Atleast 10% of the raid will be benefiting from this legendary rather than just adding a little bit of DPS to 1 guy.
True, I guess I'm comparing it to thunderfury and not sulfuras since nobody goes to MC just to get sulfuras anymore, but they do thunderfury.

If things like thunderfury aren't to be repeated and the new melee legendaries will be similar to sulfuras, then we have no issue. Lets see what the ashbringer does when it comes out I suppose.

Weren't you the one saying yesterday that non-raiders don't look upto raiders? Explain where the prestige from carrying TF comes from then, because it certainly doesn't come from other raiding guilds seeing how easy and common Thunderfuries are now.

Yeah....but there's a reason no one gives a rats ass about having a Moonkin in the group and thats because increasing crit percentage is DULL.
No, it's because wasting a slot on a Moonkin reduces your raid's damage far more than a paltry 3% increase to even 4 other casters(and its gonna be 3 since you need a healer), because Moonkin are the worst nukers in the game. The staff provides an aura that's almost as good as a "nice to have benefit" on top of being an amazingly kick-ass weapon.

And the portal just makes it really neat and appropriate to the Lore. Frankly, I don't understand the complaints. I would normally agree that WoW is a ridiculously melee-centric game, especially Warrior-centric(f ex: Why the fuck are there always more warrior 2hs in a dungeon than any other type of weapon, on top of there always being one on the end boss? It's sure not because DPS warriors are the most numerous raiding class. It's obviously because the default itemization for a boss is "stick a 2h on it" when there is ZERO reason to do this. Casters haven't EVER had a good dps weapon on an end boss of a dungeon, EVER(SotSF is crap), yet every one has a 2h or sometimes MORE THAN ONE?), but I think that the staff got an excellent treatment. It's an incredibly awesome weapon, has a couple of neat benefits, and happens to be in the rather popular "minimalist powerful Wizard's staff" school of art. So?

TBH, I'm the first to rant about anti-caster bias, but I just don't see it here. Especially since everything I have heard leads me to believe the quest won't be an asshole wait-for-the-absurd-random-drop-then-turn-in-100-arcanite load of bullshit excuse for a legendary quest.

If you want to say that the Staff doesn't benefit the raid at the same level as Thunderfury, well yeah I'd agree with you, but this staff isn't going to be nearly as painful to get as Thunderfury, and also, I think they want to avoid any more fuckups like TF where a single weapon has such an overpowered effect on a whole raid. Combine this with the fact that TF is aging, and as an actual weapon itself it won't be the best for much longer and I think our staff's power level is fine.

Those staff look awsome to me honestly. They even went in as far as create 4 versions for the 4 classes to make sure it doesn't suck, way better then Sulfuras/TF ever had it.

I mean where is my +2% crit aura on Sulfuras?

On the staff you get it all: Major starting stats, major +dmg/healing, a secondary attack boost, an aura that is unique and awsome imo AND you still get the gimmick effect that might even be good forever, who knows.

In regards to the boring look/no lightning trail complaint, do we know for sure it doesn't have some kind of effect? (honest question, I don't know if people saw it in action at E3). Maybe the bird moves, or it has some kind of glow, etc. Tough to tell from a screenshot.

It's because it's a cool as hell looking item.

They will have to buff Ashbringer if they don't release it in 1.11. EJ saw a GM on the test server with one.
3.0 speed
201-247 dmg (88 DPS)
+30-50 holy damage (on swing)
chance on hit to proc a 700 fire damage DD.

While that is certainly a decent weapon, the DEoI will already hit harder. I guess it all depends on how much it procs. But with the current weapons out (and the orgasmic 2 handed mace shown at E3), it doesn't seem very Legendary in it's current state. Of course that was way back before ZG was released, so they have had time to tweak the stats.

I think your example Qhue is a rather poor one. A parrot on a stick is hot and while the stats aren't that interesting, TF and sulfuras aren't amazing either. I would be more interested to know why some casters's didn't get unique looking gear in AQ.

My (bad) idea:

chance upon successful spell cast to proc Serenity

Serenity - increases mana regeneration of all nearby raid members by 300% for 10 seconds and allows them to regenerate mana while casting. Reduces threat of all spells cast during this time by 50%.

Voila!
