I agree but if you soley base it on gaming you will still come out cheaper with consoles. Also the average span on consoles games are 4 to 5 years not 2 years. The PS was released in 1995, PS2 in 2000 and the PS3 will be in 2006.

People used that point at the time of the Amiga and it was silly, because 99% of the users used it as a console. Now you use that point today and it is still silly, because unless you are a 3D artist or a game programmer, any cheap PC allow you to do everything you listed just fine.

Amigas were infinitely cooler than the consoles of the time. I hope you're not using that to somehow bolster your argument that consoles > PC's.
