| I was interested when it was titled "Midle Earth Onlne", but since it looks like it's going to be a gimmick based game off of a popular franchise, I don't expect much out of it. That and Turbine has a worse track record than SoE.

| I played the game for about an hour at E3. It's amazing and very well polished. NPC's and players actually look like they belong in the world and move and behave realistically unlike how they stand around like crash test dummies in some so-called 3rd-generation games. I saw one NPC actually slouching on a crate of barrels. The combat is fun yet challenging and very smooth. Mobs don't fall over so easy like they do in WoW and this was at mid levels. Turbine has really managed to capture the feeling of Middle-earth and be extremely respectful to the lore at the same time. Both Lord of the Rings Online and Conan were the best MMO's at E3 by far. WoW looked extremely dated in comparision despite the millions of dollars spent at the Vivendi section. Turbine could care less about the type of hardcore gamers that frequent these forums. They're targetting a completely different demographic and kudos to them for not coming here and trying to get phoney "street cred" like the CEO's of other MMO companies.

| A MMO is not judged by whether it looks good or is well-polished for the first hour of play. A MMO is judged by its longevity, which is a combination of addictive gameplay, meaningful community interactions, and continuous content development. AC2 and DDO were disasters precisely because they lacked what can be considered long-term appeal. If LOTRO falls into the same category of "make money now, worry later" games, Turbine will not be revealed as some sort of enlightened developer, but the equivalent of EA - defined by superficiality. |
