Certainly, but take the case of mentoring. I know some people at Sigil was interested in having something similar to mentoring implemented into Vanguard. I'm sure they would love to see how it was implemented in EQ2, what mistakes were made and corrected, and basically have a better idea for how it might be applicable to use in Vanguard, if they do decide they want it.

Will this new partnership be open to such sharing of ideas, or you both be kept very seperate in this respect?

Quote:
"...Microsoft plans to invest heavily in research and development (R&D), especially in online services and advertising, in its next fiscal year, which begins July 1. In fact, Wall Street is concerned with the company's plan to spend US$2.4 billion in R&D next year because it means Microsoft investors will earn less.

Of its R&D budget for next year, $1.1 billion will go to its MSN Internet unit, which includes its adCenter online advertising sales platform for search engine advertising, Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer said Thursday..."

I am not talking about any of the companies or the people that actually have an influence on the game. I am talking about some of the people here and else where rooting for it to fail. A lot of VG fans also hate games like WoW and EQII etc, but to each his own.

Maybe MS wanted Vanguard on XBox 360 and Sigil didn't? The other reason could have been that MS was disappointed in Vanguard and dropped Sigil. MS is pushing XBox Live and gaming on Vista, there had to be something very seriously wrong with Vanguard that MS just canceled it.

It's the game that counts

Despite SoE's customer service being useless trash, credit is due on their stability the past several years. Perhaps Blizzard would be just the same if it wasn't bogged down by millions. We'll likely never know. Eitherway, speaking for myself, this has no bearing on whether I play (and stay) in Vanguard or not.

One must wonder though how long a deal like this has been brewing? It certainly can't be a overnight thing, months?

I'd like to imagine that with their new 'partnership' with SoE they'll have access to almost a years worth of information from EQ2 on why certain things did or did not work. Such as the retarded monotony of EQ2's tradeskill system. If VG mimics the original EQ2 tradeskill system in any way, shape or form...well...just ask Braen about a particular axe I've ground to a nub. 8(

Please don't break up the -nge-. I even liked the first changes done to SWG after playing it for awhile. Nothing.... nothing can fix the NGE. But hopefully all the fps guys enjoy that game now.

6 pages and over 100 fucking questions long? Seriously, what the hell.

There's only so many ways you can ask "Why aren't you having fun in Brownguard?"

This doesn't effect my decision to give Vanguard a try. We'll never know the whole truth (and they aren't obligated to tell us), but my instincts tell me XBox 360, Vista, and WoW mass market appeal, factored heavily into the decision. I'm not sure how far back the Sigil/MS relationship goes, but it's before the 6 million subs WoW is claiming now, and that is likely an issue - if MS was happy with a 250k-500k projection at a time when 1 million was "a lot", contrast to today today with WoW's redefinition of success. 360 and/or Vista support/exclusivity (the next Halo is supposed to be Vista only IIRC) could have been serious issues of cotention too. Release date could have been an issue, but I doubt it was the only one.

As a small aside, I'm encouraged that Sigil could afford to buy back the rights (I doubt SoE payed off MS completely in the deal). Someone is laying out real money on VG.
