I have mixed feelings. From Oloh's post i can only assume this is for the better.

Regardless i'm sure Brad is kicking himself one way or another.

After thinking it over, I'm really glad they decided to do this. Hopefully we'll see a later release date now, and being able to play EQ1, EQ2, and VG all with one station pass is going to be awesome.

We're not planning on changing the gameplay. It's their game. We did this deal because we're excited about their vision. I think we probably are more aligned with Sigil's vision and that's why this deal works for all of us.

SOE is NOT funding the game -- we are. We are getting funding and buying the publishing rights from Microsoft. SOE is a co-publisher/distributor, with Sigil as the publisher as well. They can focus on what they do well (mentioned above -- someone quoted one of my posts from the official boards) and we can now focus with even more authority on making Vanguard into the game we want it to be and believe our audience is looking for.

It is a blow to my confidence. Of course it might really be better to get out of Microsoft's pocket. Although it is kind of redundant. SOE is getting itself a bigger stable of similarly-minded MMOs published under it than NCSoft.

MS restarts development of Mythica? :P BY WODIN'S HOARY BEARD!

I wonder how long beta will continue to last? I mean will SoE let sigil take as long as they want or will they push them? It will be interesting since Smed posted before......

Of course Sigil/SOE will have to act like this is the best thing ever...

But this is a bad thing. A bad BAD thing..

Just having the SOE name attached to Vanguard will hurt it.

Vanguard is probably going to have the longest beta in history, for a non-vaporeware game.

From that newsletter that was just linked it looks like release is in winter, so beta extended a bit longer, Micro probably wanted july/august release or something I bet.. But I bet it could go past winter too.

No, he has to open the shuttle bay doors! Only then will he avoid Kelsey Grammar's ship!

Sorry but I don't buy this. If this was true then EQ2 wouldn't have been changed as much as it has. EQ2 is everything Vanguard doesn't want to be now but was very close in goals at the start except for the instancing.

I think MS finally saw that Vanguard was gonna be and decide to get back what money they could now.

Oh and if you want me to fill out a survey of why I'm not playing your game don't make it a 6 page grind that doesn't save.

Quick ... someone call 911 and send the paramedics to Utnayan's house. I am pretty certain hes either had cardiac arrest or is about to hang himself from a rafter.

Uh, why would you send paramedics?

Holy shit, where did that come from?

Edit:
Read the thread, I think this is good if they're doing it to prevent an early launch.
