+17 Internets | Yeah I would use it. Be nice to be able to post in my realm forum since my WoW account got forum banned for posting a Mr. Handz link, which in retrospect wasnt the smartest idea. ![]() Oh and I'd volunteer to moderate Blackhand. Last edited by Froofy-D; 04-14-2006 at 01:56 PM.. |

| I started a forum for Lothar way back in the day. The general consensus of the community was, "But Blizzard has their forums for us, what do we need another for?" It lasted about, I guess, 2 months before it withered away. My rationale was the same as yours: that EQ-type community atmosphere you get with a forum that isn't controlled by the publisher of the game. Alas, sheep. |

+6 Internets | Our server had a fairly active server forum before the official ones popped up. Once they did, the old one just slowly died. Most of the "serversocially active" people chat it up in IRC and in-game, and the rest of the community doesn't give a shit if the forum software is terrible and the moderation non-present. With all the serious players "done" with BGs for now and no contested shit except the Green Dragons, there's very little reason for guilds to get pissed at eachother, so the server forums are mostly used by newbies crying about getting ganked, and guilds bragging about their latest conquest. |

| Would you make class forums? I hate the cesspool of nerf/whine threads in the warrior forums >_<

| I wouldn't use the WoW since I don't play it, lol. But that vanguard idea is genious. I loved how the "community" ran all the forums, minus the selling to IGE part. Maybe you'll get lucky and Sigil will redirect their forums to you. |

| I'd add them to my list of messageboards to visit, but I highly doubt that they'd get enough post traffic to go anywhere. All attempts I know of to create unofficial server boards for WoW have flopped bigtime, due to lack of use. Even guild boards in WoW seem majorly underused compared to EQ guild boards. I don't think it's the fault of anyone not promoting or running the boards well enough. The game just doesn't lend itself to downtime posting like EQ did. You're almost always moving or fighting, where in EQ you could spend some of your /gems time alt-tab posting. |

| I think it's a good idea. Blizzard forums are always down when I'd actually want to check them (when WoW servers are down). Plus, there's way too much shit on there. However, a previous poster did make a good point. Opening them on a demand basis might be better. Not because of hardware concerns, but simply having a board that looks empty is a perpetuating cycle of.. emptiness. Like, until 30 (or whatever) people register for a specific server, their board doesn't appear. Once it does, they are all sent a notification email and that will kindle some initial discussion and more word of mouth. Getting an initial group of people all posting back and forth makes the board look active and will foster others joining. If you get 5 people on the board, and someone posts but doesn't see a response for three days, he may not check it again for a few weeks. Likewise, now those 5 people aren't regularly checking the board and any new posters don't get a response for days, causing them to not come back as often etc.. It'd be nice to have a single website for all server forums, that is non-blizzard. Considering any juicy topics are deleted too soon, it'd be nice to have a non-fluff forum where some real discussion can go on. Even if it'll be 99% retarded shit anyways, that 1% of real discussion will be better then most of the WoW forum stuff. edit: haha, I just realized I basically suggested a war effort AQ opening for your forums "come on guys, we gotta farm 25 other people to join the forum!" but I think that makes it a better idea even. It gives the first people a reason to promote the forum too. These will only be interesting if they are active. Last edited by Zinke; 04-15-2006 at 09:21 PM.. |

| I think it'd be better to just close them based on lack of activity, instead of opening them when people register. Especially since if people look at the site and see their forums aren't there, they probably won't take the time to register. |
