Not sure if this is within the intent of what Requiem is trying to do, but it sounds like the biggest perk of the whole idea to me. It could also quickly raise the popularity level of the proposed forums, which could be a mixed blessing in terms of traffic and bandwidth I guess. | |

+30 Internets | They feel pretty tame to me, moderator enforced or not. And don't they have a language filter and no ability to use custom titles, sigs, avatars, picture attachments etc? |

+109 Internets | There would be a very generous set of options available as far as stuff like that goes, just for the record.

+3 Internets | I like it. The centralization of the community under Bliz's control has stifled discussion. I would definitely use my server's forums here and try to get the other endgame guilds to use it rather than the 'official' ones. |

| Plugged In Like Neo | I started one for my server..it was at www.nerzhulwow.com...but I took it down because no one used it. I got nothing but shit for making it - "WTF we already have a forum" and it ended up having the same four posters over and over. I tried everything..promotion in game, promotion on forums, I held a posting contest and gave away gold. People in WoW just can't seem to understand why they'd need this. They think the Blizz forums are fine. I bet most forums would be a ghost town after the initial wow factor is gone. |

+75 Internets | I wouldn't use it. I simply don't care about what the people on my server think about the server community itself. To me, someone on Hyjal has as much importance as someone has on Arthas(where I'm at) |

| I would use it assuming it could populate. Hyjal had non-official boards before which were dreadfully underused, and Digo in his pre-Casual days did his best to put some posts up and stir the pot. Part of the problem I think was that the theme was horrid, it had a little community but said community never got big enough to make the boards worth frequenting. It's a vicious cycle when you get billions of lines of spam on the official realm forums. I would get behind them myself and do art given the opportunity. I know I've got capable help at my disposal. It's just a question of, even if well set-up, good art good smileys good avatars etc, would people populate? Are the guilds on our server with active forum populations willing to draw traffic to a community site? Would there be the usual dose of cock-fencing over it as has been the case with countless things on our server? Who can say! |

+3 Internets | I think I could totally go for it. One of the big advantages I can think of from user moderated server forums is the ability to create a few subforums which might create slightly meaningfull server discussion than we currently get on our (PvP) server. Somewhere for that the Sullon Zek types can mindlessly (and often anonamously) trash talk each other and the server for pages on end. Somewhere else a little moderated for discussion that wont get drowned out by the above mentioned posters and somewhere for the non game related threads which are essentially chatrooms for people bored at work.

| I would much prefer a player run forums. There are certain things that can be managed by a player who just deals with his forums and the players he knows and plays with. But you are going up against a well established forum run by the game maker. Remember the new aged MMO player dosnt know of anything better, think of a reason to make them want to come to you. Your real problem will be to get the large guilds to come over and the trolls. The player base will follow, but you'll have to get the ball rolling server by server to take it from blizzard. |
