Remember the cape mission you do villain side? Yeah...

I wish they'd actually drop your ass into City of Heroes so you could run around yelling "OWNED BY BRAWL HALL!!!" and slaughtering the long lines of roaming pedestrians before being returned to the CoV zones.

Before giving anybody shit about times between patchs and comparing them to blizzard remember this. At least the expansion for coh is actually out now. Blizzard still can't even give a wild ass guess time estimate for their expansion almost 2 years after release.

If anyone cares, today on 5-24 until 5-26, you will be allowed to roll up some level one's on test, and auto-level them to 40. You will also be given unlimited influence to buy enhances. You will then be sent to Recluse's Victory. I am going to use the opportunity to try different builds and concepts. It's an easy way to see if people are bs'ing about certain AT's. I wanted to see if super reflexes really sucked so bad, so I levelled an sr scrapper that owns in pve and is ok (but not so good against experienced pvp'rs). Levelling isn't easy to do in Coh, as I estimate it has taken me over three hundred hours to solo my invulnerability/energy melee tank to just shy under level 41. We'll be able to do an automatic level up on the villain side, also.

For my own edification, I want to see how a 40 force field/energy defender, 40 ar/dev blaster, 40 super strength/invulnerablitiy and 40 trick arrow/archery defender plays. You won't be able to run missions, because there aren't any in RV, but there are pve mobs in the streets (and they hit really hard btw).

-----------------------------------------

I pm'd a dev on the whole thing on switching sides (heroes converting to villains and vica versa). He confirmed that it is being worked on, but gave no timeframe.

I also asked him if they will ever change the 75 charachter limit to be a 75 account limit. Bottom line is that the database problems between Cryptic and NcSoft means in his words that don't expect this to be fixed. Really lame. I think this really kills the community in Coh. I play lots of alts, and I am not going to join an sg because of it.

Correct. Here are some pics of the battle droid I got in RV. It has lots of attacks. I had a longwinded review of the new zone, and this site ate it. Suffice it to say, you can control these Robotech type droids to do your bidding in this zone. I have never seen anything like this in an MMO. The droid had multiple attacks. It had dual front mounted lasers that it volleyed. It also shot bombs out of its shoulders. It had this mega attack it shot out of its tail. It was a huge laser that filled the entire screen with energy particles. You couldn't even see anything when this shot went off. The droid was really cool.

I think they need to tone the droids down some. I have an energy melee charachter, which is one of the most damaging chars later on in the game. The droid put me to shame. It took me 30 secs to take down npc's that it took out in five secs. And I was getting decent xp for every kill it made. At one point, it was doing so much damage, I just sat and watched. And it never had health below 95%, while I was getting taken down to 50% health in some of those fights (and I am an invulnerabilty tanker). If they don't tone down their effectiveness, RV will be the place to level up post 40.

Supposedly we'll be able to earn the right to use the droids outside of RV. That could really be overpowered. Who needs a group to run mishes with, when you have an impenetrable machine of death?

(NOTE: The graphics are turned down because of technical probs I was having).

Those are some nice pics, Lyrical. I laughed a little when you said the graphics were turned down, cause I think those look pretty damn good, especially the robot.

I've been debating resubbing CoH, in large part to the X3 commercials on TV. I think I already know the answer to this, but do you need to have CoV active on your account to access the PvP zones with a CoH character? I quit between issues 4 and 5, so I never bought CoV.

Those attacks look an awful lot like Psi.

For those that don't play CoH, Invul has pathetically weak defenses against Psi... while Robots are generally all but immune to it.

Could that be why you were getting owned while your bot was up at 95%?

It's too bad CoH/CoV is such a lousy game.

I don't know that lousy is the right way to describe CoH or Guildwars or Auto Assault.

NCSoft has games that are fun and look good but don't really seem to have the longevity component that MMOGs are supposed to have. I hope Tabula Rasa is different.

You know you already answered your question, right?

One thing about the mobs is that they use a variety of attacks (which is tough to defend against). They use smash/lethal, psi, and energy.

I have been playing on test for about a day now in the new RV. I estimate that the droid is probably 90% resist to everything, has mega hp and super regen. It's really overpowered.

We'll see what they gave in store. Since Positron and _Castle_ have somewhat taken the reigns (and Statesman is showing up less and less), the game is a bit more positive. If anything, they have stopped with the nerfs, and actually repealed some of them (the defense buff is pretty big).

We'll see what happens. Posi's comments are that we will see more endgame stuff starting in I8 (for those of us at max level).

I picked up CoV since I'm bored to death waiting for Naxx. I definately enjoy it as a diversion. A lot of the issues I had with CoH have been fixed. Besides, I'm sick of fucking orcs. Its nice to be doing something different. Its a lot easier to identify with a Super villian than with a night elf.

The sad thing is I see the potential for so much strategy and tinkering with abilities, etc. How certain classes interact and ability for crowd control and healing, its a refreshing dynamic. To bad 90% of the playerbase is to braindead to understand or cares enough to play on that level. And its really nice that almost every class in CoV has good damage capability.

I'm screwing around on the freedom server if anyone's there, got a whole bunch of level 10ish characters. Global chat handle is Psychic Lenin.
