Look in the recruitment forums.
Look at the EVE background web, see the alliances and the corps that make up each; it's updated every few weeks so is fairly up to date
In the corp forums their is a territory map, if where you live matters for 0.0 then only certain alliances are relevant to you.
Show info onthe corp, often recruitment info is there.
Open a convo with anyone from any corp you are interested in and find out who does recruitment.

Also, Eve goes to prove that you don't need to have a name behind you (Blizzard, Sony, NCSoft, EA) or do somethign that has already been done (like Fantasy) to succeed, nor a good/bad publisher (these guys are from Iceland).

25k concurrent players, in ONE uninstanced server, Jeez, you would think other companies could learn from that

Actually EVE's history is even cooler. EVE's devs CCP actually distanced and then freed themselves from Vivendi Universal in late December 2003 and became their own publisher. Presumably Vivendi was applying pressure on the devs to make EVE's environment more accessible to a broader audience---like, say, lower invertebrates or french media executives. CCP regained the ownership and publishing rights to their own product, moved to a downloaded client version and have maintained their vision throughout--a real unregulated 'world-as-toy' where a subcriber can actually change the course of the game's history.

It's easy to admire CCP's integrity and courage, but they're actually kinda cheating. Instead of a million shareholders they're only beholden to their employees and families. Instead of 6 million glue-sniffing half-breeds, they only have to listen to 100,000 hobbyists who share their passion for gaming.

To an extent I agree that this BoB thing is important and worth discussing, however, it's just another cycle. BoB has a history of NAPing, turning on the ally, NAPing, warring, and so this move isn't really a surprise, the only facet of it which took me off guard was that they un-NAPed everyone, instead of singling out one 'ally' to war. However, since this is a cycle in BoB's history, I will be interested to see how long this state of 'total war' for them lasts, before people start getting NAP'd again, the simple truth is, BoB can't really expand their territory a lot, sure they can take new regions, but they'll have a hard time holding more, already gurilla forces encroach on the PvErs that are left behind to farm their systems, more territory will just exacerbate their problem, so, because I don't believe BoB can take and hold much more territory, they don't have a lot to gain from a real war with their neighbors, so I'll be surprised if they keep warring for an extended period, I think they'll bloody the other alliances in the north, and slowly re-NAP.

And I am looking forward to Goon vs anyone engagements, it's funny to hear about them lose countless frigs, destroy a handfull of BSes, and come out on top in ISK losses. T1 frig 4tw.

I thought Simon & Schuster Interactive was their publisher and Simon & Schuster Interactive was/is a 'co-partner' of vivendi, but not part of Vivendi itself.

Who says its an uninstanced server? They can take individual star systems down selectivly. Its just a game with a fucking ton of zones and minimal bottle necks so you don't end up with everybody in one or two spots. Its a single shard but that only goes as far as chat and some communications/searches which other games like EQ did long ago, everything else is segmented.

Eve does nothing thats brand new or impressive technology wise. What is best about them is they have a very unique game dynamic which is pretty much not reproducable in any other game and this is where they stand out rather than EQ clone #32

I think he just means that there's no duplication of sites. There's only one Jita, there's not duplicates of individual 10/10 complexes, etc.

The single shard idea is a technological innovation. I don't know what you consider technological innovations: would they have to reinvent the internet or something? Even UO used existing distributed computing technology - they just made something out of it that other people didn't think of doing.

Same with EVE.

Today we engaged a fleet of over 30 hostiles moving down the pipe to s-u (GoonFleet home territory) within 30 minutes we scrambled a gang of 120+ ships and ripped their asses apart, last check of the killboard we dropped 9 of the combined enemy Battleships, we lost 3 T1 frigs and one Thorax (cruiser).

It was epic.

Exactly. There's a difference between bringing a particular zone server down when it's not being utilized and instancing. Some people just can't seem to grasp that concept.

Well I finally decided to buy EVE. However, I fucked up and bought it from FilePlanet, instead of turning my old trial account into a full account. I used the online question submission thing on EVE's website and I got a response in like 15 minutes. I was told that I couldn't use the CD key on my trial account, however they would copy my characters from my trial to my newly created one. I created the new account and responded with my new info. Character got copied over within an hour.

Good shit! Very impressed with my first CS run-in.

That is some pretty awesome CS, considering in WoW you would've probably been told to delete your WTF and custom UI.
