+75 Internets | Interesting. Keep this thread updated with how things go. A lot of times people in these types of games that are leaders of leading guilds(like BoB) have to decide whether or not to ally it up for peace, or to make the game fun by risking destruction and doing combat. |

+18 Internets | k, G Alliance just disbanded. Wtf is going on? They reforming into a monstrous Zerg alliance? Is the zerging getting a bit excessive? Some of the comments seem to indicate that 600 pilot fleet really damaged some peoples opinions of current PoS wars. /continues to float around low-sec in his Ferox. |

| G / IRON (both disbanded now) pissed off a lot of people. They took one of our (Ascendant Frontier's) stations for a short period and as a result we've been roaming in their regions for a while now keeping spirits low and pressure on, none of them could mine or NPC in peace. There's a bottleneck system (EC-P8R) with a station that leads into G / IRON's space that's owned by TRUST alliance who were pretty much industry slaves of GIRON, they were the first on the server to build a Mothership. To do that you need a Capital Ship Array at a POS (Player Owned Structure) at one of the moons in your system. A combined force of BoB and ASCN (Ascendant Frontier) arrived at EC-P8R, a total of around 600 people at peak. BoB brought a total of around 35 Capital Ships (Dreadnoughts are vital siege ships for POSes) with the intent of taking out the Capital Ship Array and all of the POSes to claim sovereignity over the system. You need to own more POS in the system than the current owners of the system. When you have sovereignity you can claim the station as well. ASCN brought mostly Battleships and were in charge of locking down the system, all gates and the station were covered. Noone neutral or red could get in or out, the only way to get past the system was a huge detour through hostile space. The whole op lasted 5 days or so, it was boring as fuck but the effect it had was worth every minute of it. Around 40 billion ISK in damage was done and their capital ship production was neutralized. As for them disbanding I'd imagine it's just get rid of the red target painted on their foreheads. BoB's intentions are quite worrying as there are only 3 powerhouse alliances left in the game and ASCN are known for their industrial bias. |

| Wait. Before you get people here all hopped-up on EVE sauce again, let's get one thing out there in the open. What would it take to contend with someone in BOB? In terms of time-investment; from scratch. Curious. And, I played EVE for about two months or so a while back, with some others from fohguild.org; I found it near impossible to get a decent ship out in the lawless areas, and even then there were people who'd put so many hours into the game it was impossible to play catch-up. In WoW, I can level a twink to 60 in two weeks, with modest playing. There is such a steep leveling curve in EVE, that I think anyone who goes into it expecting to powerlevel their way to a battleship (let alone carrier, whatever) and most especially people from this board, that they will get frustrated in the attempt. Either that or they whack-off to their original SW:ANH poster, and all is well with the world.

| You probably couldn't "catch up" to them in terms of power, ever. How leveling works in EVE is that you train skills at a base, and these skills have a determined time until you gain a level in that skill. You basically go to your base, pick a skill you want to train, click on train, and then go out while your skill is training. It also trains while you're offline. (I know that you know all that, but I'm saying it for the others who have never heard of how Eve works :P) The catch is that level 1-2-3 of a skill take like 15 mins, 1 hour and 6 hours. But 4-5 can take days and weeks, and you can only train 1 skill at a time. So advancing is pretty slow if you're used to WoW or EQ. You can get some decent ships and equipments in around a week of play, but don't expect to chilling around in dreadnoughts and heavy ships for a while. So yeah, it would take you years to get exactly where BOB is in terms of skill points, but you can still kill them as all ships are designed to have a weak point and even the first ship you can use (frigate I think?) has its uses in warfare. |
