| New EQI "Progression Server" I just read a report from the EQ fanfaire and it had an interesting bit about a new type of server for EQI that starts with only the original EQ available, and then makes additional expansions available as people unlock them. They call it a "Progression Server". You can read some details on Mobhunter: Fanfaire Report Everyone will start with access to the new ui, the lfg tool, and some other things, but most of the features that came with expansions need to be unlocked. It is also a "no transfer" server, so people need to start from scratch. I will be interested to see what people think. |

| Sadly, I don't think they can truely replicate old world EQ because, A) Obviously and unavoidable, lots of the exploration and discovery aspects won't be new to most players. B) I have to assume everything will run with current patches and use current serverside data (everything changed about the game outside client side). I don't think it is possible to bring back a lot of the things people liked about the old world Everquest.

| I wanted them to do this a long time ago. I always talked about this idea with other people, and everyone thought it was great. I think the idea of something similar to this has even been posted on this board. I don't understand why they hadn't done it sooner. It'd be really fun to play, but I can't get caught up in EQ all over again. =( |

| Exactly what Kuro said is a good example. I don't believe rubicite will be attainable. Would be amazing if the server actually had all the old world item/spell/npc/quest/etc data on it as well.

| Seriously though, arnt most of those zones completely different? Lavastorm and nek have been redone I know that for sure. Wasnt befallen tuned to be higher level, and the undead at night in Kith? Runneyeye was also redone as was CT. We need more info on if its just EQ without expansions, or a complete rollback of the server code. If its the latter, I might actually play, although I'm already starting to get nervous for fear breaks with lvl 50 gear and spells. =\ |
