I hate to say it, but I would be tempted to re-create Venjenz on this server and go through the madness again. Either my necro or enchanter.

If you guys go for this, PM me and I can reload the game and join up. By virtue of my EQ2 subscription, I already can play EQ1, I just haven't had the motivation to reload the client on my new box.

And Tuco, I am certain my nostalgia will be quickly replaced with "fuck, this really did suck!" but gamers have to game, and everything else is equally as boring. Why not go visit the old neighborhood to remind yourself of why you moved out?

I want to know if it will have

Original Infected Paw because you know they revamped that place into some elemental home bullshit. The original dungeon (in the middle of South Karana) was my fav place to level 30-35 or so. Very kickass exp.

Manastones - someone mentioned rubicite, what about manastones?

It's kind of funny, the class balance shifted greatly throughout the expansions (for example, rogues were pvp gods in Velious but in Luclin they were a complete joke). So which class would I start? Hmm..

2) It was near the banks for evil + good races. Druid and wizard ports were nearby. This made large cash transactions alot easier to do.

Gfay was teh suck. Fun fact: Cazic Thule had the first bazaar, which took place in Qeynos Hills on a Saturday (It was organized I believe by Kat, who you may know better as the WoW CM back in beta). The next bazaar took place in Ecom tunnels, where it ended up staying permanently because no one wants to run to Qeynos ;p
Yep and I remember a certain monk that would hang out at the EC tunnel entrance eliciting drools of envy from the other lesser folks (like myself).

My warrior was still sore from that beating you gave me the one time we dueled (disarm a monk ftl) by the time i canceled.

Ahhh how I miss the old Cazic.

QFT.

Imagine running the epic quests again? I remember the enchanter epic mobs that you had to sit with a group and wait for a random chance to spawn. My necromancer was created to camp Verina in Neriak, and I just ended up saying "fuck being an enchanter" and stuck with a necro.

The only thing that will suck is the folks who played Iksar and want to do so again. Wonder how they work that?

By the time /gems was added "old school" EQ was already over.

If they follow their balancing schedule from the original game, I suggest no one play rogues for about 6-10 months.

1dmg backstab and no evade for the fucking lose.

Pretty sure the new classes/races would have to be unlocked per expansion - so Iksar/Kerrans/Frogs would have to start late (well maybe on Frogs since they're in Rathe now)

This may be the perfect thing to do during the summer while I wait for WoW to release an expansion. Non instanced content is going to be interesting to experience again.

It's cool by me because I was all about doing the mangina elf thing, but I know some folks who were all about the Iksar Nation. Straight Outta Cabilis and all that shit.

Here's a question - wasn't Paineel part of the Kunark expansion? Or was it a live update to original EQ? I know the Warrens was post-Velious, but I can't recall the timeline of Paineel and The Hole.

hopefully i can bring a lvl 5 troll SK into plane of fear to get his class armor
I remember our official level 1 troll sk Gazel ;p I remember after he got full armor, he went to the newbie starting area and was dominating all the rats ;p

Heh I think I remember that. I had the monk epics at the time + my tstaff, so you disarmed the tstaff then started to eat fist spam ;p

Worst I ever got owned by a warrior was vs. Rellikcam. I was winning the duel, but then he pulled out Bladestorm and it proc'd. That rain literally ate 2/3rds my hitpoints, then he did some supercrit and I died ;/

I think Free content will be in release. Paineel, Warrens, The Hole, Laggedpine Forest. those weren't part of offical expansions.

Qhue: You played on druzzil correct?(were u in hoss? i cant remember.. i was in seekers ) ANyways, both EC and Greater Faydark were awesome markets. It made buying/selling so profitable because people in GF would pay a ton for a PGT or dervish rings, where as people in EC would give their left nut for a mino axe.

Paineel and the Hole were free zones. Paineel was added in February 2000, Kunark came out in April 2000, The Hole was introduced in June or July of 2000, but it was originally introduced as an "old world zone" (i.e. Manastone worked in the Hole) and later reset to a "new world zone."

It's funny that you use the words "Original Infected Paw" because that was after the first revamp... it was originally a lower level dungeon.
