| God I'm so fucking excited for this server. I just started EQ up again, and I don't have any friends and my armor is gimp, so I've been trying to solo a druid to power level alts so I can box. I started in the Kunark era and never really got a guild and never caught up, but still played a lot and tried to be better. I hope they follow through with this and soon. And I hope there will be skilled people flocking to it that I will be able to associate with. I see so much potential in this. It will be able to hold my attention a lot longer than the other MMOs I left EQ to try. Fuck I wish they'd hurry and give some sort of announcement.

+2 Internets | I don't know anything about tradeskilling but I presume all the materials are available to make cultural armor, if so it's going to be a war of tradeskilling rather than racing to kill the big mobs. Why clear hate 15 times when the stuff you can make is 10 times better? I'm sure it's a wet dream for some hardcore tradeskillers though...

| I've reactivated my EQ account like 4 times since I "quit" for good. Each time only lasted 2-3 weeks. The problem is EQ is trying to modernize itself despite having old and outdated game mechanics. I'd rather EQ just stick to its roots. I think the only way I'd play this server is if they changed the game completely to how it originally was. Spell book meditation, race and class exp penalties, original UI with no UI customization, original combat music, overpowered items (manastones, mct, etc.), and so on. I think the reason EQ's community was so great was because of so much broken and hard content forcing people to have to work with each other and help one another. There were no thottbots, just pretty abstract and incomplete databases like allakhazam and everlore, so people didn't just focus on going for the best equipment. The only items they knew about were ones that they had heard about from or seen on other players. Unfortunately even if they did make the server back to the original way, I still might get bored of it fast. I've already been desensitized by WoW and now I expect all MMORPGs to be fast paced action FPS style games with easy access and maps and thottbot. Not only that, but I know most of the EQ old world-velious zones inside and out, know all the important quests (FFS I still have the stein of moggok quest memorized), know which items are good and which aren't (no more excitement over crappy items that seem good at the time, until I find something even better). Also, I'd feel like I have to rush through content and just grind as efficiently as possible, and not level about once a week from my mid 30s on, exploring and meeting new people like I originally did. As much as I wish to relive my old EQ days, I just don't think that will ever be possible. Plus, I'm pretty sure I won the WoW beta contest and I'm afraid that cancelling my account will disqualify me from the beta. I'm not going to pay monthly fees for two games. I definately think the bazaar should still be available somehow. I think if they made aa and leadership abilities from the begining, or at least set to levels instead of expansions and just lvl 51 and up. The anticipation for this server is killing me... *Edited to make me sound more sober than I am...

| I'm looking foward to trying this out, but SOE will have to make some changes or it's going to be totally FUBAR. Tradeskills: Current tradeskills let you make velious-era gear from old world drops that should not be available until velious. Old World Zones: CT: Luclin level mobs and loot. It would be THE raid zone dropping gear that has no business being in a pre-luclin game. Splitpaw: Same problem as CT, but with less loot. Fear: CT in his current state is a velious-era mob, and there's a PoP style mob that spawns there that's part of berzerker epic. Hate: It's now just another godamn xp zone that nobody visits, and Meistro/Inny are mid/upper PoP raid encounters. SoulC: PoP era zone now part of the old world, same problems as CT. Quests: Newbie gear quests: A complete set of gear attainable by level 5 that's as good as old world quested class armours. Not exactly game-breaking, but will kill the market for banded mail. |

| Everything I've been told this week has led me to believe it won't be a WoW style collection campaign to unlock expansions. It was mentioned that there will be key npc's who will have to be killed in order to open the next expansion for everyone. Obviously there's no specifics about this yet. Secondly, todays code is correct. The old Fear data apparently doesn't even exist anymore, but things such as vp and sleepers will be rolled back. As far as an ETA goes, the stated goal is to get it open before the next expansion. |

| I agree with whomever said that a bunch of current uber guilds will have their asses handed to them by Naggy, Vox or PoFear breaks with the lvl 50 cap and old school gear. Those moffos were tough back then and many of these current ubers didnt even play the game until Velious/Luclin. EQ kinda spoilt players along the way with agro weapons, unlimited mana, AA's and the rest of it. It will be interesting to see how today's top guilds perform in 1999-conditions. Yag.

| It is hard to pass up 40 year old soccer moms trying to cyber in highkeep again but I think I'm gonna pass on this for now. I always did regret not making a dwarf when EQ was new though, so maybe I will join and see how it goes. Honestly I'm looking forward to the expansion progression more than anything. If I got into this I can almost guarantee I'd quit right after PoP released. SoL was my 2nd fav expansion(dont kill me please). Seeing guilds doing SSRA again and wiping would put a big grin on my face. Racing for AoW and trying to KS other guilds and WINNING was also tons of fun.

| Oh god now I have old times of /gems in Karnors in my mind, EC tunnel haggling, and countless hours of solo grinding in LOIO with a warrior. I might actually play this. Dear god they better not add the shitty new graphics to old zones like current EQ has right now. That would hurt this server more than anything.
