New Warhammer Online Info and Pics

http://www.worthplaying.com/article....thread&order=0

I wonder if people will still compare it to WoW now.

Hmm...

It seems to be a little to restrictive for my tastes. BUT, if it has good raid mobs and whatnot, I might give it a shot. Much cooler looking than WoW, IMO.

It will always be compared to WoW.

PC pvp collision could be very interesting.

I like the style. I have always liked the Warhammer universe, even though I have never actually played the table top games.

Nice style..I really like the sky in the screenshots. Looks pretty immersive to me. I don't know anything about Warhammer though, but that article made it sound pretty neat =)

I remember the Sacrifice sky when the game frist came out.. that whole game was amazing. You could even deform the terrain by casting volcanoes and such. Even now, the sky looks great.

Looks pretty good, but oh how I wish it were 40,000 instead.

Yeah, 40,000 would help it get out from under WoW's shadow, but the Fantasy genre is tried and true, while I think it would be a lot harder to faithfully replicate 40k in a game.

Needs to be a lot harsher looking imo, it's too cute and smurfy to be Warhammer.

I agree. It still has a year until the slated release, though, meaning improvements to character models are possible, as well as the potential for blood and disfigurement/decapitation to be added for some truely brutal combat.

The PvP aspects of the game sound very appetizing, although the word "Battlefield" is giving me horrid thoughts of Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley.

PC PvP collision is a godsend. A chokepoint should actually be a chokepoint, not a "Everyone run through them until we can steal their graveyard!" point. The fact that tactical maneuvering might actually mean something in the game has me tingling with anticipation.

Well, if this does well, maybe they'll make a 40k next.

Only 7 more years to wait!

Woah. Awesome patch notes. I'm gonna resubscribe!

For serious tho, cautious optimism here. There's a lot of similarities to daoc I'm seeing in that write up.

Curious by omission is the stealth class. 2 warring sides, 3 races per side, 3(?) basic archtypes per race -- Warrior / Mage / Priest. Might my long desired dream of a stealthing light eldritch become a reality?

The one thing that most gives me hope it probably won't completely suck-- pvp collision detection. FINALLY.

btw. <3 Snotlings.

I wouldnt count on this due to the simple fact they would probably want to keep their game as PG oriented as possible to keep their game base open to as many people as possible. I dont think many parents would let their kids play if they saw what real combat would like with heads flying and blood gushing from wounds. Its just not good buisness sense to limit your playerbase. Though it would make for an interesting game and the lack of "kids" playing it would be a good thing.

Seems to me that this game is following the path of Guildwars with the main focus on PvP and that doesn't have to be bad. The overall concept is interesting and the graphics are nice. If they get enough customers online this could be fun to play.

Mythic has some hope from me just because they have been pretty decent about putting out relatively polished games in the past. Before WoW I think DAoC was probably the MMOG that was most complete on launch.
